Revamped All-New Chevrolet Colorado: A Premium American Pickup Revolutionizes the Market

‘Chevrolet 3rd Generation All-New Colorado’

Chevrolet officially launched the all-new premium authentic American pickup truck, the Colorado, in South Korea on July 15, starting customer sales.

Yoon Myung-ok, Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer of GM Korea, stated, “The Chevrolet Colorado has long been recognized globally as the benchmark for midsize American pickups, known for its best-in-class performance and value. The newly launched Colorado in South Korea has been completely reborn as an authentic American premium pickup that provides unmatched off-road performance along with the comfort of urban driving. This model will be the optimal choice for domestic consumers who pursue diverse lifestyles that combine daily life and leisure activities.”

The Chevrolet Colorado has evolved into its third generation through a complete redesign, boasting a luxurious interior and exterior fitting for a premium pickup truck. The front features a massive black radiator grille that merges with LED projection headlamps, creating a powerful impression. The sculpted character lines and bumper design emphasize the tough appeal of a true off-roader, while numerous LED lamps, including LED daytime running lights, front fog lights, and tail lamps, showcase the presence of this premium pickup.

The muscular body line of the front and rear fenders, designed with straight lines, showcases a dynamic profile despite the high ride height. The rear tailgate features the elongated Chevrolet lettering, a tradition of Chevrolet pickups, expressing more than a century of pickup heritage.

The interior meets modern design language and quality materials, providing both a state-of-the-art feel and luxury. An 11.3-inch color touchscreen is centrally positioned, coupled with an 11-inch digital cluster, offering various settings to provide optimized information while driving.

Additionally, the interior features jet black and adrenaline red point accents, with red stitching in key areas such as the front vents, center fascia, center console box, and natural leather seats, completing a luxurious yet sporty look.

There are six exterior colors available: Topaz Blue, Tuxedo Black, Pure White, Sterling Gray, Sand Dune, and Glow Red. Standard features include 18-inch Android Dark Gloss alloy wheels optimized for off-road, complemented by all-terrain tires, with a 20-inch dark Android alloy wheel option available.

Opting for the Z71-X edition adds various accessories, including off-road side steps, an LED black bowtie (front), stainless steel muffler tips, premium floor liners (front & rear), and Colorado logo door sills (front).

The newly developed powertrain boasts class-leading performance. The 2.7L direct-injection gasoline turbo engine, first applied in the full-size Silverado, produces a maximum output of 314.3 horsepower and peak torque of 54kg·m, surpassing the previous 3.6L naturally aspirated engine in power output and showing over 40% improvement in torque performance.

‘Chevrolet 3rd Generation All-New Colorado’

Chevrolet has achieved outstanding performance and durability in the all-new Colorado’s new engine by applying materials and technologies used in diesel engines, including a high-strength cast cylinder block, a crankshaft that is 30% stiffer, and a fully forged bottom end.

The transmission is paired with a second-generation 8-speed automatic transmission, providing smooth shifting and quick downshift performance, allowing both comfort and sportiness depending on driving conditions. Notably, the latest 8-speed transmission ensures a comfortable driving experience comparable to SUVs on-road, while also delivering excellent performance in off-road situations at low speeds.

The All-New Colorado comes equipped with a four-wheel-drive system that excels in both on-road and off-road driving. The AutoTrac™ active 2-speed 4WD system features a mechanical locking differential, essential for off-road driving. If significant traction differences occur between the left and right wheels, the lock-up function engages the differential to ensure stable driving in any situation.

Additionally, various drive modes allow for optimized performance based on road conditions. The All-New Colorado includes four drive modes: the standard driving mode, off-road, rough terrain, and towing/carrying, selectable via a dial located to the left of the gear knob. An off-road performance display providing G-forces and pitch/roll information further enhances the driving experience.

The Chevrolet All-New Colorado also boasts impressive trailering performance and pickup-specific options suitable for an authentic American pickup truck. The base model includes a trailer hitch receiver and connector, capable of towing up to 3,492kg, making it easy to pull large caravans or trailers.

Advanced trailering technology is also integrated to ensure safe towing. The StabiliTrak® vehicle stability control system, with sway control functionality, continuously monitors the trailer’s balance during driving, preventing sway induced by road imperfections or turbulence at high speeds.

Moreover, hitch assist guidelines and hitch view monitors enhance the ease of trailer attachment, while the integrated trailer brake system adjusts brake pressure based on the trailer’s load, maintaining consistent braking performance regardless of the weight.

Various pickup-specialized options are available, including a rear sliding glass window that opens and hidden storage in the back seat. The StowFlex tailgate features built-in storage for tools and gear, while the easy lift & lower tailgate facilitates smooth operation. The tailgate even comes with an engravement for measuring lengths for woodworking tasks and offers a mid-position function to keep it open at an angle.

Furthermore, for added convenience when loading and unloading, the rear bumper corner step and cargo lamp are provided, along with a 220V 400W power outlet. The bed’s floor is protected with special coating to prevent slips and corrosion using a spray-on bed liner and cargo rail protective cover.

The All-New Colorado takes a step forward in design and performance, equipped with premium options suitable for a premium model in terms of convenience and safety features. GM’s global connectivity service, OnStar, is provided free for five years, along with advanced wireless technology for Google Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, driver-seat memory functions, heated and ventilated front seats, automatic heated steering wheel, dual-zone climate control, rear air vents, sunroof, and smart key features.

In terms of safety features, it includes six airbags and the StabiliTrak® vehicle stability control system with trailer sway control. Furthermore, it incorporates low-speed automatic emergency braking, front distance detection, front pedestrian detection and braking (including cyclist detection), lane-keeping assistance, smart high beams, blind-spot warning, trailer blind-spot monitoring, lane-change warnings and (steering) assistance, rear cross-traffic alert, and a rear park assist, all designed to prevent accidents across various driving conditions.

Further adding the technology package grants adaptive cruise control, rear pedestrian alert, surround vision camera, underbody cameras (front & rear) for viewing the undercarriage during off-road driving, Bose® premium sound system (amplifier, 7 speakers), and a 20″ dark Android alloy wheel option.

Positioned as a premium imported authentic American pickup truck, the Chevrolet All-New Colorado is offered in a single Z71 trim, priced at 72,790,000 KRW (after tax reduction).
