Scania Korea Breaks Ground on New Service Center in Gimpo

Scania Korea held the groundbreaking ceremony for its new Gimpo service center on the 15th.

Scania Korea Group announced that it held a groundbreaking ceremony on the 15th for the construction of a new direct service center in Gimpo, Gyeonggi Province.

At the ceremony, executives from Scania Korea, including CEO Jukka Ketola, and representatives from the construction company attended, wishing for a safe and successful establishment of the facility.

The Gimpo service center, scheduled to be completed in the first half of 2025, has a total project cost of 13 billion KRW and will be built on a site of 4,861㎡, with a building area of 1,596㎡. The Gimpo service center will be constructed as a European-style service center according to Scania’s global standards, featuring nine workshops, including bodywork and painting, a customer lounge, a restaurant, a vehicle sales outlet, and various other amenities. Additionally, the center will operate using eco-friendly energy through the installation of solar panels.

Located in the Gimpo Hakun Industrial Complex, the Gimpo service center boasts excellent connectivity to Seoul, Incheon, and northern Gyeonggi Province, conveniently positioned near airports, ports, and highways, offering geographic advantages for quick access. Scania Korea plans to continue to expand its investment in infrastructure such as service centers to enhance customer service satisfaction, particularly improving accessibility for customers in the Gyeonggi and metropolitan areas.

CEO Jukka Ketola stated at the ceremony, “As the first large imported commercial vehicle brand to enter the Korean market, Scania has been steadily investing in expanding its service network,” and added, “With the establishment of the Gimpo service center in a transportation hub, we plan to provide customers with greater service accessibility and enhanced services.”

Scania Korea currently operates 24 service centers nationwide, with the Gimpo service center expected to open next year, bringing the total number of direct service centers to seven. This represents the largest number of directly operated service centers among large imported commercial brands, and Scania Korea intends to further enhance customer service satisfaction through proactive investment in service infrastructure.
