Unveiling the Porsche Macan Electric: A New Era of Performance and Efficiency

‘Porsche Macan Electric’

Porsche Korea has announced that pre-orders for the Macan Electric will commence from the 17th at all Porsche centers and studios nationwide. The models available for pre-order include the ‘Macan’, ‘Macan 4’, ‘Macan 4S’, and ‘Macan Turbo’.

Porsche expands its product portfolio with the introduction of two additional rear-wheel drive models, the Macan and Macan 4S, following the Macan 4 and Macan Turbo. The newly unveiled Macan focuses on a long driving range of 641 km (based on WLTP) and high efficiency, while the Macan 4S is positioned between the Macan 4 and Macan Turbo.

The new entry-level model, Macan Electric, is powered by a high-voltage battery with a total capacity of 100 kWh. A rear axle motor with a diameter of 210 mm and an effective length of 200 mm delivers power to the wheels. The electric motor is equipped with a 480 amp pulse inverter (PWR) that utilizes the high-efficiency semiconductor material silicon carbide, enhancing overall efficiency by reducing switching losses and achieving a higher switching frequency.

The Macan 4S features a powerful 600 amp silicon carbide pulse inverter. The electric motor has a diameter of 230 mm and an effective length of 150 mm, while the Macan 4S comes standard with Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) electronic damper control. Optimized chassis with a leveling system, height-adjustable adaptive air suspension, Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus), and rear axle steering enhance performance and comfort.

The Macan Electric delivers top-level E-performance. When launch control is activated, the Macan generates an overboost output of 360 hp (265 kW), while the Macan 4S produces 516 hp (380 kW). The peak torque for the Macan and Macan 4S is 57.4 kg·m and 83.6 kg·m, respectively. The time to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h is 5.7 seconds for the Macan and 4.1 seconds for the Macan 4S, with top speeds of 220 km/h and 240 km/h respectively. The Macan is 110 kg lighter than the Macan 4, achieving a driving range of 641 km (WLTP) compared to the 606 km of the Macan 4S.

Both the Macan and Macan 4S achieve an optimized drag coefficient of 0.25 and boast progressive, timeless designs. Thanks to the 800V architecture of the Premium Platform Electric (PPE), DC fast charging output can reach up to 270 kW. When using an appropriate fast charger, the battery can be charged from 10% to 80% in approximately 21 minutes.

Additionally, a new color, Slate Grey Neo, is available for all Macan models, and a new 20-inch Macan S wheel has been introduced. A new off-road design package is also offered as an option across all Macan models, enhancing everyday usability.

The upgraded Porsche Driver Experience brings new designs and functions to the Macan Electric. This experience integrates both digital and analog elements, featuring a 12.6-inch curved display combined with the instrument cluster, a 10.9-inch passenger display, augmented reality technology applied to the head-up display, and communication lights.

Meanwhile, the Macan Electric becomes Porsche’s second all-electric vehicle following the pure electric sports car Taycan. Since its debut in 2014, the Macan has maintained a unique position in the compact SUV segment, and as a fully electric model, it is expected to carry on the successful story with typical Porsche sports car handling, long driving range, and outstanding everyday usability.

In June, the Macan 4 and Macan Turbo were unveiled for the first time in the country, garnering praise from the media and domestic customers for Porsche’s innovative E-performance, the new Porsche Driver Experience, and the impressive, timeless design.

The Macan, Macan 4, Macan 4S, and Macan Turbo are scheduled to launch in the second half of this year, with sales prices starting from 99.1 million KRW, 100.59 million KRW, 114.4 million KRW, and 138.5 million KRW, respectively.
