Porsche Redefines Luxury Sedan Segment with New Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid and GTS

Porsche has announced the unveiling of the new Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid and Panamera GTS, redefining the luxury sedan segment.

Porsche expands its Panamera product portfolio with two new models that combine the unique characteristics of a sports car with a smooth driving experience in a uniquely powerful and sporty version.

The emotional driving experience is at the forefront of the dynamic sports sedan Panamera GTS, while the Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid is the most powerful, fastest, and luxurious top-of-the-line model. The Turbo S E-Hybrid holds the fastest official record for combustion and hybrid luxury sedans at the Nürburgring Nordschleife.

Both models feature an enhanced 4.0-liter bi-turbo V8 engine, similar to the Panamera Turbo E-Hybrid. To meet strict automotive emissions regulations ‘Euro 7’, the existing twin-scroll turbo has been changed to a single-scroll turbocharger, reducing the preheating phase of the catalytic converter. A maximum exhaust gas temperature of 1,000°C, associated clean combustion, and an increased maximum combustion chamber pressure of 140 bar significantly enhance driving efficiency, especially at high dynamic ranges. The 8-speed Porsche Dual-Clutch Transmission (PDK) has also been completely redesigned. The Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid implements strong drive torque with optimized power transfer surfaces and increased thermal load capacity.

‘Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid’

The new Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid is the most powerful among current Panameras. The V8 bi-turbo engine produces a maximum output of 600 PS, while the fully integrated electric motor in the housing and PDK cooling circuit generates up to 190 PS. This brings the system output to 782 PS, an increase of 102 PS over the previous model, while system torque increases by 15.3 kg·m to 102.0 kg·m. The Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.9 seconds (a reduction of 0.5 seconds), with a top speed of 325 km/h (an increase of 25 km/h).

With improved drive efficiency, the hybrid powertrain offers a longer electric driving range, faster charging, and more agile responses compared to the previous generation. The total capacity of the high-voltage battery is now 25.9kWh, 45 percent more energy than before. This allows the Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid to achieve an electric driving range of up to 88 km (based on WLTP EAER City). Regenerative braking power has also increased to 88kW, enhancing the efficiency of pure electric mode. Under optimal charging conditions, the battery can be fully charged from 0 to 100% in about 2 hours and 39 minutes using the 11 kW onboard AC charger.

Porsche emphasizes that the Turbo model is the top model in the product line through a uniquely colored rear bumper and front end. The rear features chrome-plated tailpipes in Dark Bronze color, completing the exterior design. Additionally, the Turbo S E-Hybrid comes standard with Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB) featuring yellow brake calipers, with the option for the traditional E-Hybrid Acid Green color caliper.

The elegant metallic gray tone known as Turbonite is exclusive to the Turbo models, featured on the air blade at the front of the Turbo S E-Hybrid and the rear bumper strip, as well as the forged 21-inch Panamera Turbo S center-lock wheels. This color is used in the interior on trim strips, belt straps, center console controls, and the steering wheel. Compared to Turbonite, the stitching applies to seat, door panel trim, dashboard, and floor mats, while suede material Race-Tex covers the roof lining completely.

Porsche development driver Lars Kern set a new record, completing the Nürburgring Nordschleife (20.832 km) in just 7 minutes and 24.17 seconds with the new Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid. This made it the fastest top-class sedan equipped with combustion and hybrid engines according to the Nürburgring 1927 GmbH & Co. KG rankings, surpassing the previous record by 5.64 seconds.

Improvements in lap times were significantly supported by the new Carbon Aerokit and specially developed Michelin UHP tires. The aerokit, available for the Panamera Turbo and Turbo S E-Hybrid sports sedans, includes carbon elements such as the air blade, side skirts, and rear diffuser to optimize aerodynamic balance during racetrack driving. For optimal performance, the front spoiler lip completely removes lift at the front axle, and the gurney flap of the 4-way adaptive rear spoiler generates greater downforce, enhancing aerodynamic balance.

At 200 km/h, downforce is increased to 60 kg, providing excellent agility in demanding cornering sections. The Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires (front 275/35 ZR 21, rear 325/30 ZR 21) marked with N0 were specially developed for the new Panamera, improving traction.

The vehicle driven by Lars Kern, which achieved the new record on July 12, 2024, is identical to the production model, except for the racing seats and safety cage installed for the driver’s safety.

Porsche equips the top model of the Panamera with Porsche Active Ride Suspension as standard. The innovative chassis, combined with a 400-volt high-voltage system, is technically feasible only for Panamera models equipped with E-Hybrid drive. Each shock absorber has an electric hydraulic pump that actively generates force in rebound or compression directions. The suspension absorbs most body movements, maintaining a horizontal position even in dynamic driving situations, and actively compensates for pitching and rolling. It also balances wheel load distribution to optimize traction. The new Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid offers a wide range of equipment, including all driving dynamics control systems, rear axle steering, Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB) with 440mm front and 380mm rear diameters, and Bose® sound system.

‘Panamera GTS’

Representing Gran Turismo Sports, the Porsche GTS model maximizes the enjoyment of sporty driving while offering high everyday usability. Following this philosophy, the Panamera GTS is distinguished by a high-performance tuned chassis, a unique sports design package, and a sporty and luxurious interior, emphasizing the intuitive and agile characteristics of a luxury sports sedan. The powerful and extensively upgraded V8 bi-turbo engine contributes to the Panamera GTS’s intense driving experience, delivering linear output felt distinctly above 6,000 rpm.

With an increase of 20 PS over the previous model, it produces a maximum output of 500 PS, enhancing driving performance, dynamics, and efficiency. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds, with a top speed of 302 km/h. The sports exhaust system provided as standard on the Panamera GTS generates a powerful and appealing sound.

Porsche has sportily improved the dual-chamber 2-valve air suspension with Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), which is standard on the Panamera GTS. The body is lowered by 10mm, and the reinforced anti-roll bar provides an intuitive driving experience and a lower spring rate. The electronically controlled limited-slip differential system, Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus), optimally distributes torque between the wheels, enhancing body stability and reducing pitching and rolling at all speed ranges while maintaining comfort and increasing dynamics.

All GTS models from Porsche are differentiated by their unique sporty design. The black GTS logo on the sides and rear of the vehicle, distinctive front end, dark-tinted HD matrix LED headlights and taillights, and red brake calipers complete the identity of the Panamera GTS. The sports package, included as standard, features body trim elements in satin-matte black color along with side skirts, front fascia insert, side window trim, and rear bumper. The dark bronze color sports exhaust system tailpipes create a contrasting atmosphere, and the anthracite gray-colored 21-inch Turbo S center-lock wheels stand out even more.

The interior extensively utilizes suede material Race-Tex, applied to the roof lining, armrest, door panels, and the center panel of the 18-way adjustable adaptive sports seats. Moreover, Porsche offers two GTS exclusive interior packages in Carmine Red or Slate Grey Neo colors. Decorative stitching and belts can also be applied in the selected package color. A carbon matte interior package is available, and the Panamera GTS comes standard with a Bose® sound system and a Sport Chrono package, including a stopwatch and push-to-pass features.
