Mercedes-Benz Korea, Inc. is launching the highest-level model lineup, including the brand’s first fully electric vehicle, the ‘Mercedes-Maybach’.

At an event held today (25th) at XYZ Seoul, a cultural complex in Seongsu-dong, Mercedes-Benz Korea unveiled the brand’s first fully electric SUV model, the ‘All-New Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV’, alongside a limited edition of 45 units in a black and silver two-tone color scheme, named ‘Mercedes-Maybach Night Series’, which will be delivered to customers in August.

The Maybach EQS SUV is the brand’s first electrified model, combining unparalleled luxury with cutting-edge electric vehicle technology. Following its digital world premiere at the Shanghai Motor Show last year, it has been recognized as a model that redefines the standard for high-end electric vehicles while embodying ‘high-level luxury’.

Matthias Baitle, CEO of Mercedes-Benz Korea, attended the event and stated, “The Maybach EQS SUV is a model that marks a milestone in our brand’s history.” He further emphasized that the model embodies the brand’s goal of aiming for ultimate luxury even in the era of electrification, promising to deliver unparalleled luxury and the highest level of electric driving experience.

The Maybach EQS SUV was born under the philosophy of founder ‘Carl Maybach’: “What is good must also be beautiful”. Accordingly, it aims to maintain the identity of the top-tier luxury Maybach brand even in the electric vehicle era, capturing the robust presence of the SUV in both interior and exterior design.

Starting with the exterior, the design harmoniously combines the family look of Mercedes-Benz electric vehicles with the distinctive design elements like the Maybach brand emblem and lettering. Additionally, it offers eight basic colors and five two-tone paint options exclusive to Maybach models as paid options, expanding choices for customers.

The interior boasts Maybach’s exclusive Nappa leather seats and Maybach emblems, creating a more sensory and luxurious image executed with perfect craftsmanship. Furthermore, it features an innovative MBUX Hyperscreen, which integrates three displays into one, offering a higher-level digital experience along with modern sophistication.

Passengers in the rear seat can indulge in premium conveniences, experiencing unparalleled comfort offered exclusively in Maybach models. Features include executive seats with ventilation, massage, neck and shoulder heating functionalities, and a maximum recline angle of 43.5°. The rear seat also includes a chauffeur package that allows for calf massage functionality and the ability to move the front passenger seat forward for extra room in the back. Additionally, selecting a four-seat option allows for a rear center console equipped with a refrigerator and champagne flutes, providing a first-class lounge experience.

Moreover, two 11.6-inch full HD touch screens and a 7-inch MBUX tablet are standard in the rear seat, allowing passengers to control the vehicle’s entertainment functions directly. Additionally, an MBUX Interior Assistant is equipped to enable intuitive and intelligent vehicle control with just a wave of the hand.

Other premium features include an air purification package with a large HEPA filter to effectively cleanse the cabin air and an air balance package offering sensory fragrances tailored to personal preferences, ensuring a differentiated luxury experience in this high-end electric SUV.

The Maybach EQS SUV provides exceptional interior quietness and riding comfort by using insulation materials and laminated glass, along with a wind deflector for the panoramic sunroof, and special acoustic foam in the vehicle’s underbody to reduce noise and vibration intrusion. A disconnect unit (DCU) allows the front motor to be disengaged for rear-wheel drive only, enhancing driving efficiency and further reducing interior noise.

The Maybach EQS SUV provides both powerful yet stable driving performance and comfortable riding experience. It accelerates from a standstill to 100 km/h in just 4.4 seconds, with a WLTP-rated range of approximately 612 km on a single charge.

Notably, the Maybach EQS SUV comes with a Maybach driving program as a default driving mode, replacing the existing comfort driving mode, maximizing rear-seat passenger comfort and providing the unparalleled ride quality that Maybach is known for.

Additionally, it features Airmatic air suspension, allowing the driver to manually or automatically raise the ride height by up to 25 mm according to driving speed, as well as rear axle steering with an angle of up to 10°, ensuring stable driving and comfort in any road condition.

The Maybach EQS 680 SUV is set to launch in August, with a price of 225 million won (including VAT). Mercedes-Benz Korea plans to provide more detailed specifications closer to the launch date.
