SKT Launches Exciting New Services for Youth and Long-Term Customers

SKT is set to strengthen its competitive edge in telecommunications services, focusing on differentiated offerings including plans, roaming, youth and children exclusive services, and long-term customer benefits programs.

On the 3rd, SK Telecom announced that it will introduce Netflix OTT bundled products and in-flight Wi-Fi services, enhancing benefits for existing services such as the youth-exclusive service ‘0’, the kid-exclusive service ‘ZEM’, and the long-term customer program ‘Special T’ to elevate the overall customer value of its communication services.

Celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, SKT plans to make mobile communication services more customer-friendly that have been a part of customers’ daily lives for decades. In addition, it will launch an advertising campaign titled ‘SKT, This Works!’ to compellingly convey reasons why customers should choose SKT’s communication services.

■ 0 Youth Plan’s 1st Anniversary…Movie Discounts and Double Data for Sharing/Tethering Starting June

In celebration of the first anniversary of the ‘0 Youth Plan’, SKT will double the data benefits for sharing/tethering and provide movie discounts for customers enrolled in this plan starting June 1. Until August, all customers who sign up for the ‘0 Youth Plan’ will receive one additional CGV movie ticket discount voucher of 50% off each month on top of the existing benefit and will also enjoy double the share/tether data available each month.

The ‘0 Youth Plan’ targets customers aged 34 and under and is a 5G plan that actively reflects the data usage patterns and lifestyle trends of young people, offering up to 50GB more data compared to similar price-range 5G plans and discounts of 50% on coffee, movies, and roaming every month. According to SKT, 80% of 5G customers aged 19 to 34 opted for the ‘0 Youth Plan’ in its first year, indicating strong customer response.

SKT has also prepared generous benefits for young customers who are not using the ‘0 Youth Plan’. Starting in June, SKT youth customers can receive up to 45% off tickets to musicals such as ‘Hero’, ‘Benjamin Button’, and the exhibition ‘Cartier, The Time’s Decision’. Discount coupons can be downloaded from the 0 page on the T World app/web and used on the Interpark ticket site.

For young customers interested in esports, SKT has also planned prize events and fan meetings. From June 1 to June 24, youth customers who participate in the ‘0 raffle’ event on the T World app/web will have a chance to win a total of 1,000 T1 Special Edition roaming cards (3GB), valued at 29,000 won, through a lucky draw. A fan meeting event with the T1 team is scheduled for the third quarter.

On the 10th, 20th, and 30th of each month, SKT has increased the number of winners for the ‘0 day’ membership event, providing benefits for customers aged 13 to 34. Throughout June, the first 270,000 customers will receive benefits such as ▲5,000 won Daiso gift card ▲1 cup of Compose Coffee Americano ▲1 piece of Sweet King Tanghulu Strawberry.

■ Launch of Netflix OTT Bundled Products on the Horizon…Combining with T Universe and 5G Plans

SKT is set to launch an OTT bundled product in collaboration with Netflix in the near future.

The newly introduced Netflix bundled product will be available through SKT’s subscription platform, ‘T Universe’. Specifically, it is expected to be offered in a manner that combines a 5G plan with Netflix products, similar to the current offering of Wave OTT service benefits.

With the addition of Netflix to the existing OTT lineup of YouTube, Wave, and SPOTV on T Universe, SKT is anticipated to provide a diverse range of OTT service benefits to its customers.

■ “T Roaming Customers Can Enjoy Convenient and Affordable In-Flight Wi-Fi”…Introducing In-Flight Wi-Fi Services

SKT is preparing to provide in-flight Wi-Fi services in collaboration with airlines in anticipation of the upcoming vacation season.

Before boarding the plane, customers can easily register for Wi-Fi products on the T Roaming website and are offered discounts and free promotions for subscribers of the roaming-only plan ‘baro’.

Last June, SKT launched the ‘Family Roaming’ service, allowing up to five family members to share roaming data for an additional 3,000 won after signing up for the baro plan. SKT is committed to continuously enhancing its unique benefits to ensure travelers can conveniently and economically use roaming services.

■ Upgrading the Kids Service ZEM…Expanding Benefits for Long-Term Excellent Customers with Special T

The ‘ZEM’ service app, which helps children develop proper smartphone habits, will launch a child-compatible app supported by Apple’s iOS in the third quarter. While the ZEM app for parents already supports iOS, the launch is a response to the increased demand for iOS support for children’s apps as more kids use iPhones.

The functionality of the ZEM service will also be newly upgraded. The parent-version ZEM app will have significantly enhanced features to provide safety and reassurance information about their children, while the child-version ZEM app will include fun emoji features using the camera.

ZEM is a brand of integrated wired/wireless kid services provided by SKT and SK Broadband for children under 12 years old, offering various tailored services through devices, apps, plans, and content specifically for children.

Special T, which offers exclusive benefits to long-term excellent customers, is also preparing various events in the second half of the year. From July to August, there will be invitation events to SKT ICT Experience Center T.um, and from September to October, there will be an Everland forest vacation event planned. In the winter, events inviting customers to the home games of the SK Knights for the 24-25 season are also scheduled.

T.um is a future technology experience center located at SKT’s headquarters, recognized as Korea’s ‘ICT Landmark’ with over 180,000 visitors from 180 countries. Moreover, the forest vacation event conducted from April to early June received warm responses, with over 50,000 people applying per session.

SKT launched the Special T program offering exclusive benefits to long-term excellent customers in January. Customers who have been with SKT for over five years receive data equivalent to their years of subscription (in 1GB increments) each year, and those with tenure over 10 years receive additional event benefits.

Alongside this, SKT will begin its customer advertising campaign ‘SKT, This Works!’ in June. ‘SKT, This Works!’ symbolizes the significance of expressing both SKT’s service competitiveness and customer satisfaction. Through this campaign, SKT aims to communicate the unique value of services that can only be obtained through SKT in a friendly manner.
