The Association of Korean Automobile Journalists announced on the 7th that the Kia The New EV6 has been selected as the Car of the Month for June 2024.
The Car of the Month Selection Committee conducts evaluations on new models and facelifts released from the 1st to the end of the previous month to announce the car of the month. The evaluation consists of five categories: ▲ Interior/Exterior Design and Emotional Quality ▲ Safety and Convenience Features ▲ Power Performance ▲ Energy Efficiency and Greenhouse Gas Emissions ▲ Marketability and Purchase Intent.
Among the new cars unveiled last month, the Kia The New EV6, the Mercedes-Benz The New EQA, the Genesis GV70 facelift, the Cadillac Lyric, and the KG Mobility The New Torres (in alphabetical order) were nominated for the Car of the Month. After fierce competition, the Kia The New EV6 scored 34.3 points (out of 50) and was ultimately selected as the Car of the Month.
The Kia The New EV6 received an outstanding score of 8.3 points (out of 10) in the energy efficiency and greenhouse gas emissions category, and recorded 7 points in the power performance category.
Chairman Jeong Gi-yeon of the Car of the Month Selection Committee stated, “The newly launched The New EV6 features a dynamic design that reflects Kia’s new family look, equipped with an 84kWh 4th generation battery, providing a driving range of 494km on a single charge. Additionally, various advanced infotainment systems that enhance connectivity between the vehicle and user were reinforced to increase product appeal.”
The Association of Korean Automobile Journalists has been selecting and announcing the Car of the Month since 2019, and last month, the Porsche 3rd generation new Panamera had the honor of being named Car of the Month.
The association announces the results of the Car of the Month selection on its official website. Vehicles selected as Car of the Month receive the special privilege of advancing directly to the final round of evaluations without going through the preliminary and semi-final assessments for the Car of the Year.
Meanwhile, the Association of Korean Automobile Journalists includes 58 media members consisting of major daily newspapers, broadcasters, communication agencies, online platforms, and automotive magazines, with over 200 journalists affiliated with member organizations.
