Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia Series: A Thrilling Round 2 in Australia

‘Round 2 of the Super Trofeo Asia Series took place in Australia’

The second round of the one-make race “Super Trofeo Asia Series,” organized by Lamborghini, was successfully held at Bend Motorsport Park in Australia from June 9 (Friday) to June 11 (Sunday). The third round of the Asia Series will take place at Inje Speedium in South Korea from July 19 to July 21.

Last year, the fourth round was also held at Inje Speedium, where Lee Chang-woo, a driver from the SQDA-Grit Motorsport team representing South Korea, achieved excellent results after a three-year hiatus due to the pandemic. He will compete as a solo driver in this series as well.

Now in its 12th year, the Lamborghini Super Trofeo race is a racing tournament that features participants racing in the single model of the Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo Evo2 in a one-make race format. The Super Trofeo Asia Series is divided into four classes: PRO, PRO-AM, AM, and Lamborghini Cup.

The Super Trofeo Asia Series kicked off with a spectacular first round at the Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia on May 3. Lee Chang-woo, representing the SQDA-Grit Motorsport team, gained attention by participating for two consecutive years after achieving impressive results in last year’s series. In the first round, he secured 1st and 2nd places in the AM class and finished 1st in the AM class of the second race of round two, despite being unable to finish the first race due to an accident, ending with an overall ranking of 2nd for rounds 1 and 2. He is now preparing for the third round, aiming for the overall ranking of 1st at the Inje Circuit in July.

Lee Chang-woo is a veteran who has achieved numerous podium finishes in the domestic professional scene and was the first representative of the South Korean team to compete in the Super Trofeo stage last year, finishing as the season runner-up. Additionally, he has collaborated for an extended period as a chief instructor in the Lamborghini Driving Experience and various Lamborghini-hosted events held in Korea.

In the results of round two, Marco Gilttrap and Clay Osborne from Absolute Racing are leading the PRO class with an overall 1st place. In the PRO-AM class, Andre Kuto and Chen Fangping from Madness Racing Team are in front. In the amateur class, the Thai duo, Thanat ‘Cat’ Riwatanavarakul and Dechaton ‘Poo’ Pukarak from YK Motorsport Racing Team, secured the lead. Lastly, in the Lamborghini Cup class, the siblings Hajiq Zairel O and Hairi Zairel O from HZO Fortis Racing Team maintained their leading position.

Meanwhile, Lamborghini Super Trofeo is a racing tournament held in Europe, North America, and Asia, with each series consisting of six rounds. After all championships in Asia, Europe, and North America are confirmed, the Lamborghini World Final will take place, featuring the winners from each continent competing in the final race. After the third round of the Super Trofeo Asia Series, which will be held at Inje Speedium in Korea from July 19 to 21, the fourth round will take place at Fuji Speedway in Japan from August 16 to 18, followed by the fifth round at Shanghai International Circuit in China in early September.
