Mercedes-Benz Korea has announced the launch of the ‘C 200 Avantgarde’ and ‘C 200 AMG Line’, the new entry models of the luxurious mid-size sedan C-Class.
The C-Class has been a flagship best-selling model for Mercedes-Benz, with over 10.5 million units sold worldwide since the introduction of its predecessor, the 190 model in 1982. The current sixth-generation model was launched in the domestic market in 2022.
The newly unveiled vehicles include the Mercedes-Benz C 200 Avantgarde and C 200 AMG Line, enhanced with advanced safety and convenience features at a reasonable price to improve customer satisfaction. The prices are ₩62 million for the C 200 Avantgarde and ₩65 million for the C 200 AMG Line (including VAT).
Both models come equipped with popular features preferred by domestic customers, such as ▲ front seat ventilation, ▲ heated steering wheel, and ▲ panoramic sunroof as standard. Additionally, a toll settlement system that displays the payment amount and balance on the central display and a digital key pre-installation that allows for remote vehicle sharing are included as standard.
Both cars are powered by a 4-cylinder gasoline engine, delivering a maximum output of 204 horsepower (ps) and a peak torque of 32.6 kg.m, providing a refined and smooth driving experience through a 9-speed transmission. A 48V mild hybrid system is integrated, providing an additional 20 horsepower during acceleration through the integrated starter generator, along with excellent efficiency through gliding, boosting, and regenerative braking. Notably, both variants have received low-emission vehicle certification, entitling them to benefits such as reduced congestion charges and public parking fees.
The exterior design of the C-Class emphasizes a luxurious and elegant image while inheriting the design philosophy of ‘sensual purity’, which focuses on a youthful and dynamic feel. The C 200 Avantgarde model features LED high-performance headlights, a central tri-star logo, a vertically-styled black radiator grille, and a chrome-finished front apron that complete the luxurious look unique to Mercedes-Benz. The C 200 AMG Line adds a sporty touch with a diamond radiator grille and 18-inch AMG 5-spoke lightweight alloy wheels.
The interior features various digital elements, enhancing the overall sophisticated atmosphere. The dashboard and central display attract attention with a sportier design, tilted approximately 6 degrees toward the driver’s seat. The air vents on the dashboard adopt a design reminiscent of aircraft engine nacelles to emphasize dynamism.
With an 11.9-inch vertical high-resolution LCD display located centrally, various functions within the vehicle can be controlled with a simple touch. Additionally, the 2nd generation MBUX infotainment system provides intuitive operation of various functions via voice commands and touch screen, as well as mini-games like Sudoku and ShufflePick. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are supported, and a fingerprint scanner located below the central display allows for quick and easy access to personalized settings.
The C 200 is equipped with the latest driving assistance systems and a range of advanced safety and convenience features that create a safe and comfortable driving environment. The advanced driving assistance system ‘Driving Assistance Package Plus,’ which includes maintaining distance from the car ahead and automatic speed control, as well as braking and starting, lane-keeping assistance, and lane-change assist, comes standard. It also includes features that minimize occupant injury by detecting dangerous situations prior to an accident, such as Pre-Safe®, and Pre-Safe Impulse Side, which protects front seat occupants in the event of a side collision.
Additionally, features such as ▲ a parking package with a rearview camera, ▲ heated front seats, and ▲ a heated windshield washer system are included, along with an air purification package that continuously monitors ultra-fine dust levels inside and outside the vehicle to maintain comfortable air quality.
