Hyundai Motor Company unveiled the Casper Electric at the ‘2024 Busan Mobility Show’ press conference held at BEXCO (located in Haeundae, Busan) on June 27 (Thursday).

With its outstanding product value and reasonable pricing, the Casper Electric is expected to set a new standard for the popularization of electric vehicles.

The Casper Electric, which made its debut today, retains the robust exterior of the existing Casper while incorporating unique pixel graphics characteristic of Hyundai’s electrified models.

With a length that has increased by 230mm and a width that has grown by 15mm compared to the existing Casper, the Casper Electric not only stands out on the road but also secures innovative improvements in space utilization, livability, and driving stability, enhancing its product value.

The turn signal lamps that immediately catch the eye feature pixel graphics that showcase the iconic design of electric vehicles, while the round DRL (Daytime Running Light) with surface lighting completes a forward-looking impression.

The front grille adopts a circuit board-style black grille that evokes the image of a circuit board, housing the headlamps, charging door, and front camera, emphasizing the advanced technological image of the Casper Electric.

On the side, the wheel design shaped like pixels harmoniously blends with the voluminous fender design and strong body, while the unique robot face badge etched on the rear door handle catches attention.

The wheelbase has been extended by 180mm compared to the existing model, enhancing high-speed driving stability while providing more generous legroom for the second row. The trunk length has also increased by 100mm, creating a cargo space that is 47 liters larger than the previous 233ℓ, enhancing space efficiency (based on VDA standard).

The rear, also featuring pixel design applied to the rear lamps, emphasizes a sense of unity with the front, while the simple yet bold surface treatment completes the future-oriented image of the Casper Electric.

The interior of the Casper Electric boasts a 10.25-inch LCD cluster, navigation, and electronic shift column, enhancing livability and usability to provide passengers with spacious comfort.

The steering wheel, fitted with interactive pixel lights, conveys various vehicle statuses such as charging status and audio recognition through four pixel lights at the center, facilitating interaction between the driver and the vehicle. The ambient mood lamp installed on the crash pad and door trim creates an aesthetic beauty while offering a cozy and comfortable atmosphere with its 64-color LED lighting.

Additionally, the integration of the electronic shift column at the top of the steering column allows for a slimmer center fascia, and the bench-type seat shape enables comfortable movement for the first row, securing a wide and pleasant living space.

Hyundai has equipped the Casper Electric with a 49kWh NCM (Nickel-Cobalt-Manganese) battery, achieving a driving range of 315km on a single charge. It can be charged from 10% to 80% in just 30 minutes, ensuring ample EV practicality for urban driving (based on the cruising model, 15-inch alloy wheels, and 120kW charging standard).

The vehicle can supply 220V power both internally and externally, applying the indoor/outdoor V2L function to provide differentiated electric vehicle usability.

The Casper Electric also boasts a variety of safety and convenience features.

It includes a range of features that offer a convenient and distinctive electric vehicle experience, such as ▲Digital Key 2 Touch ▲Touch Sensor Door Handles ▲i-Pedal Mode ▲Electronic Parking Brake ▲Smartphone Wireless Charging Pad.

In addition, it is equipped with new features to assist comfortable driving, including ▲Highway Driving Assist (HDA) and ▲Navigation-Based Smart Cruise Control (NSCC) ▲Lane Keeping Assist (LFA).

In situations where obstacles are close in the front or rear and the driver abruptly operates the accelerator pedal, the ‘Pedal Misoperation Safety Assist (PMSA)’ function limits power output or engages emergency braking to prevent accidents. It also includes newly equipped features such as ▲Surround View Monitor (SVM) ▲Rear Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist (PCA-R) ▲Blind-Spot Monitor (BVM), as well as ▼Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA) ▲Lane Departure Warning (LKA) ▲Safe Exit Warning (SEW) ▲Intelligent Speed Limit Assist (ISLA) ▲Driver Attention Warning (DAW) ▲Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist (RCCA) to ensure customer safety.

The exterior colors of the Casper Electric include new soft yet distinctive colors such as ▲Buttercream Yellow Pearl, as well as existing colors like ▲Atlas White ▲Unbleached Ivory ▲Tomboy Khaki ▲Bija Rim Khaki Matte, and a total of nine color options such as ▲Siena Orange Metallic ▲Aero Silver Matte ▲Dusky Blue Matte ▲Abyss Black Pearl. Additionally, there are plans to introduce a black two-tone roof option depending on the exterior color.

The interior color options are composed of three selections: a comfortable tone of ▲Khaki Brown/Newtro Beige two-tone, ▲Gray monotone, and ▲Black monotone.

Hyundai will operate a unique indoor test drive program for the first time in the country, allowing customers attending the 2024 Busan Mobility Show to experience the driving performance of the Casper Electric firsthand.

Participating customers will have the opportunity to ride in a vehicle driven by an instructor at speeds of up to 40 km/h on a 70m indoor track, providing an intuitive experience of the Casper Electric’s product value. After the experience, customers will be issued a special license.

Furthermore, from June 28 (Friday) to July 7 (Sunday), during the Busan Mobility Show, a special exhibition of the Casper Electric will be held at Busan Station Square alongside the Ioniq 5.

Jeong Yu-seok, Vice President of Hyundai Motor’s domestic business headquarters, stated, “It is an honor to introduce the world’s first Casper Electric to visitors at the Hyundai Motor Hall” and added, “We hope for much interest and love for the Casper Electric, which will lead the popularization of electric vehicles.”

Meanwhile, the Casper Electric will begin pre-orders for the cruising model in July, with plans to sequentially introduce the base and cross models thereafter.
