LG Electronics Champions Battery Recycling with Innovative Campaign

LG Electronics is taking the lead in the collection and recycling of discarded batteries from cordless vacuum cleaners, actively practicing ESG management.

On May 7, LG Electronics signed a memorandum of understanding on the collection and recycling of small secondary batteries with the Korea Environment Corporation and E-Circular Governance at the LG Smart Park 2 in Changwon, Gyeongnam. The signing ceremony was attended by Jeong Gi-wook, head of the cleaning business at LG Electronics, Jeong Jae-woong, director of resource circulation at the Korea Environment Corporation, and Jeong Deok-ki, chairman of E-Circular Governance.

LG Electronics and the two organizations agreed to establish and operate a resource circulation system for electronic products and promote the introduction of related systems, such as incentives for excellent recycling companies, to facilitate the transition to a circular economy.

From May 7 to June 30, LG Electronics will conduct the ‘Battery Return’ campaign. This initiative aims to collect discarded batteries from cordless vacuum cleaners and encourage customers to participate in resource circulation, offering discounts on new battery purchases. This campaign has been held bi-annually since 2022, marking its fifth iteration this time. From this year onward, it will be jointly hosted by LG Electronics, the Korea Environment Corporation, and E-Circular Governance.
