Uber Taxi, the taxi-hailing platform, supports the activation of Busan Workation as a key participating enterprise in the metropolitan area. On the 13th, Uber Taxi announced that it participated in the ‘Busan Workation Golf Teaching Day’ and signed a business agreement with the city of Busan to promote the workation initiative.
The event held at Haeundae Beach CC was attended by over 130 participants, including employees from four metropolitan participating companies, Busan Mayor Park Hyung-joon, professional golfers Park In-bee and Yoo So-yeon, and local associations, all united to promote the Busan workation initiative.
Through this business agreement, Uber Taxi will actively support the activation of the Busan workation and encourage participation from Uber employees worldwide. Additionally, the company will provide promotional offers to workation participants, enabling them to move safely and comfortably at reasonable rates during their stay in Busan.
During the event, Uber Taxi also discussed additional cooperation measures to enhance Busan’s appeal as a global hub city. Busan is recognized as a global hub city where international events such as the Busan International Film Festival and the G-STAR game exhibition are held, leading to an increasing trend in foreign tourist visits. Following the expansion of Uber services to Busan, the number of users in the region increased by 1.5 times compared to January, and the number of foreign users has tripled, reflecting rapid growth. This growth is expected to accelerate further during the upcoming vacation and international event seasons.
The strategy aims to enhance service convenience for a diverse range of users in Busan, from workation participants to foreign passengers who are already familiar with and trust the Uber Taxi brand.
Uber Taxi CEO Song Jin-woo stated, “Ever since we signed a business agreement last year to facilitate transportation convenience for foreign tourists, we have been working closely with the City of Busan. We are thrilled to contribute to the development of Busan’s tourism industry and boost the local economy. This year, we will actively seek and support various measures to synergize with Busan City in providing customized services to enhance tourist influx and comfortable mobility, further accelerating our growth.”
Meanwhile, Uber Taxi began its nationwide service expansion starting from Busan and Ulsan following its rebranding in February. They are currently running a ‘First Ride Promotion’ for new users in the Busan and Ulsan areas until the end of June.
