The sense of luxury has increased, and convenience features have been significantly enhanced. This is the Genesis mid-size SUV ‘GV70’.

On the 17th, Genesis unveiled the ‘GV70 Facelift Model’ at the Genesis Suji showroom in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province. The GV70 has sold over 200,000 units worldwide with its dynamic design, powerful performance, and various convenience features since its launch in December 2020. The new model is a product update after 3 years and 4 months.

The front grille has been refined with a double mesh structure. The headlamps reflecting Genesis’s signature two-line design are equipped with MLA (Micro Lens Array) technology. The rear has integrated the turn signals previously located on the bumper into the rear combination lamps, implementing a two-line graphic while enhancing visibility. Additionally, the auxiliary stop light positioned on the rear spoiler has been streamlined.

Its dimensions are 4,715 × 1,910 × 1,630mm. The dimensions remain unchanged from the previous generation model. The roofline, extending from the A-pillar to the D-pillar, showcases the dynamic beauty unique to the GV70. The wheelbase measures 2,875mm. There is enough space for a fist in front of the knees and two fists above the head. The center tunnel rises to the wrist. Even when sitting in the center of the second row, there’s enough space above the head for one fist, ensuring comfort.

The doors, pillars, and ceiling are finished in suede leather. The sport-specific Nappa leather seats help maintain the seating posture and provide comfort.

The dashboard now features a 27-inch OLED display that integrates the driver’s gauge and center display, which allows for immediate recognition of driving conditions. Additionally, the GV70 includes OTT services such as Netflix and Disney+, along with music platforms like Melon and Genie. OTT and music streaming can be used for free through the Genesis Connect service for five years.

Dolby Atmos surround sound has been implemented. The Dolby Atmos sound system provides three-dimensional sound that surrounds the passenger’s headspace, transforming the interior into a personal concert hall instantaneously. Additionally, the driver’s seat features a moving Ergo Motion seat with a massage function, and mood lighting that can be adjusted to match one’s mood, enhancing the atmosphere. The scent from the diffuser also changes according to the mood lighting, improving the ambiance during the ride.

The GV70 powertrain includes a standard 2.5-liter inline 4-cylinder gasoline engine producing 304 horsepower and 43.0 kg.m of torque (5,380,000 KRW), while an optional 3.5-liter V6 gasoline engine offers 380 horsepower and 54.0 kg.m of torque for an additional cost of 550,000 KRW. The AWD functionality is available for an additional 300,000 KRW.

Genesis, which means beginnings, origin, or emergence. There is a saying in the Bible: “Though the beginning may be humble, may the end be prosperous.” However, after experiencing this GV70 facelift, I felt a strong impression that the Genesis brand is poised for a grand beginning and will flourish even further.
