‘V8 Engine of the Huracán Successor’

Lamborghini has unveiled some technical specifications of its upcoming model codenamed Lamborghini 634. It is the successor to the Huracán and the second High Performance Electrified Vehicle (HPEV) plug-in hybrid super sports car following the Revuelto, set for global release this year.

This model showcases a new innovation with a hybrid system combining a V8 twin-turbo engine and three electric motors, optimized with the 8-speed dual-clutch transmission installed in Lamborghini’s first HPEV plug-in hybrid super sports car, the Revuelto.

Designed entirely anew, the 4.0L V8 twin-turbo engine aims to deliver powerful performance and driving experience that surpasses the existing Huracán lineup, combining the linearity unique to Lamborghini’s V10 engines with the high output and torque of next-generation turbo engines.

This V8 twin-turbo engine boasts outstanding performance of 200 horsepower (CV) per liter (L). It produces a maximum output of 800 horsepower (CV) in the high rev range of 9,000 to 9,750 rpm, with a maximum engine speed reaching 10,000 rpm, a level typically found in racing cars. Additionally, it provides a maximum torque of 74.4 kg·m (730 Nm) in the 4,000 to 7,000 rpm range, offering exhilarating acceleration reminiscent of racing engines, thanks to the perfect harmony between the electric unit and the internal combustion engine.

Located at the rear of the chassis designed for the new V8 engine, the electric system is positioned between the internal combustion engine and the dual-clutch transmission. It consists of an inverter and axial electric units, maintaining a compact size and lightweight while delivering high torque and output of 30.6 kg·m (300 Nm) and 149.6 horsepower (110 kW) at 3,500 rpm, respectively.

Another crucial element in the powertrain design process was defining the sound uniquely and distinctly. This gives the new powertrain its differentiated characteristics, providing an unparalleled driving experience. The new V8 engine peaks in volume and frequency during high-speed driving, creating a unique vibration transmitted to the chassis that culminates in a special experience encompassing all senses.

The model codenamed ‘Lamborghini 634’ is slated for global release this year. Following the 2023 launch of the Revuelto, and with the unveiling of the Urus SE in April 2024, this new model will mark a new milestone in Automobili Lamborghini’s electrification and carbon emissions reduction strategy, ‘Direzione Cor Tauri’ (Towards the Heart of the Taurus).
