Introducing the Revolutionary Button-Type Smart Card Key from Hyundai Mobis!

‘Ioniq 5N Card Smart Key’

Hyundai Mobis has launched a thin card-shaped car smart key. Users who have found it inconvenient to carry vehicle smart keys have previously resorted to using NFC (contact-type) card keys and smartphone digital keys. Now, with the introduction of this ultra-slim card key, which has enhanced portability and convenience, the inconveniences of using existing smart keys are expected to be significantly resolved.

On the 4th, Hyundai Mobis announced that it would officially unveil the button-type smart card key, which retains the functions of the existing smart key, on the domestic N brand online platform. This product will first be applied to the Ioniq 5N vehicle. Although a button-type smart card key has been used in certain export models of Genesis cars, this is the first time it is being released for domestic consumers.

The biggest feature of the button-type smart card key is that, unlike existing card keys, it can fully utilize the smart key functions. First, NFC card keys without functional buttons require users to take the card key out and directly contact it with the vehicle’s door in order to operate the door lock and engine start. The functions available are limited to locking or unlocking doors and starting the engine.

In contrast, the button-type smart card key allows users to open and close doors, start the engine remotely, use remote parking assist (RSPA), open the trunk, sound the alarm, and more, just like a traditional smart key by pressing buttons. It offers convenience as doors can be opened and the engine started just by keeping it in a wallet or pocket, and it features Ultra Wideband (UWB) technology for precise positioning between devices, ensuring enhanced security.

The button-type smart card key launched by Hyundai Mobis also features an ultra-slim design, making it less cumbersome to carry. Recently, with the increase in personal items such as smartphones, wireless earbuds, and electronic cigarettes, consumers favor a lightweight and compact design for car keys. The front and back designs of the card can be tailored to user preferences with a variety of textures and patterns. The newly released smart card key for the Ioniq 5N also reflects the high-performance N brand logo and its unique colors.

Son Chan-mo, head of the service parts business unit at Hyundai Mobis, stated, “We plan to expand the application of the button-type smart card key to other domestic models in the future” and added, “We will promote various after-service business initiatives to enhance convenience and satisfaction for vehicle users.”

The button-type smart card key, which is first applied to the Ioniq 5N, will be available for sale on the high-performance tuning specialty online platform ‘N Performance Shop’ launched by Hyundai Motor’s N brand.
