BMW Group Korea Delivers Engines to Ajou University: A Step Towards Future Automotive Expertise

On the 4th, BMW Group Korea delivered four BMW engines to Ajou University and held a commemorative ceremony.

In January 2023, BMW Group Korea signed a memorandum of understanding with Ajou University to cultivate future automotive professionals through the ‘BMW Technical Apprentice Program’. Subsequently, in April, they established a dedicated training center equipped with practice areas and classrooms for the BMW apprenticeship program.

According to the memorandum, Ajou University conducted special classes tailored for BMW in the first semester for second-year students in 2023. In the second semester, selected students from the BMW apprenticeship program were offered internship opportunities at official BMW Group Korea dealerships.

On the 4th, a ceremony was held for the delivery of engines that will be used as teaching materials in classes starting this year. The ceremony at the BMW Group Training Academy in Jung-gu, Incheon, was attended by Kim Yeon-tae, the head of the training academy, as well as Professors Park Jang-woo and Choi Jun-ho from Ajou University.

During the event, they delivered a total of four engines, including two inline 4-cylinder gasoline engines, one inline 6-cylinder diesel engine, and one V8 gasoline engine, along with engine stands for use in the Ajou University BMW apprenticeship training.

Team Leader Kim Yeon-tae stated, “I am pleased that we can contribute to students’ career paths and the expansion of their professional technical experience through our close cooperation with Ajou University,” and added, “BMW Group Korea will continue to fully support the development of future automotive experts.”

Meanwhile, the BMW Apprentice Program is a flagship industry-academia cooperation initiative by BMW Group Korea aimed at cultivating professional automotive technical personnel. Since it began with eight universities in 2004, it has expanded to partnerships with 32 universities, and by 2023, a total of 1,673 students have joined official BMW Group Korea dealerships through the apprenticeship program.
