Daimler Trucks Korea Launches Revamped ‘Ausbildung 2.0’ Training Program

Daimler Trucks Korea has announced ‘Ausbildung 2.0’ in collaboration with five German import car brands and the Korean-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Ausbildung is a dual vocational education program from Germany that the Korean-German Chamber of Commerce introduced in Korea. Participants will complete a total of 36 months of training, combining 70% practical workplace experience and 30% theoretical education at a university, culminating in a professional associate degree and a certification from the German Chamber of Commerce. Six German automotive brands operating in Korea, including Daimler Trucks Korea, Man Truck & Bus Korea, Mercedes-Benz Korea, Porsche Korea, Volkswagen Group Korea, and BMW Group Korea are involved in Ausbildung.

Ausbildung 2.0 is part of a renewal of the program that has been running for the past eight years, aimed at providing a higher level of vocational education through continuous innovation. Under the new slogan ‘Drive into Your Dream’, the program will undergo various reforms including: a revamp of the recruitment process, distribution of an Ausbildung basic guideline manual, introduction of a trainee motivation system, and the establishment of a multi-dimensional system to ensure the quality of learning between field and school.

As part of the recruitment process, from this year, personality tests will be excluded, and the format and style of the written assessment will be newly adjusted.

Additional documents will be required only for positions related to general maintenance, bodywork, and painting. Furthermore, a basic manual will be provided in May as a web book, containing detailed explanations of each stage of the program from recruitment, implementation, to completion. It is expected that the systematic and transparent program guide will enhance participants’ understanding of Ausbildung.

Additionally, various events will be held to motivate participants, and a multi-faceted system will be introduced to guarantee the quality of learning between field and school, with an emphasis on improving satisfaction with the program and establishing a more systematic and efficient training system.

Daimler Trucks Korea is visiting service dealers nationwide to provide detailed information about the program to expand participation and ensure effective operation, helping each center to actively engage in nurturing technical talent. On the 26th, graduates from Ausbildung at the Gonjiam and Pohang service centers will be announced.

Antonio Randazzo, CEO of Daimler Trucks Korea, stated, “Participation in the Ausbildung program is part of Daimler Trucks Korea’s global service talent development initiative aimed at ‘For All Who Keep the World Moving’. We aim to contribute to job creation and co-growth in the domestic commercial vehicle industry by collaborating with advanced German technical training programs.”

Martin Henkelman, CEO of the Korean-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry, expressed hope by saying, “The new slogan ‘Drive into Your Dream’ released along with Ausbildung 2.0 embodies the belief and future of the program.” He added, “By completely revamping the process from recruitment, implementation, to completion, we can not only increase stakeholder satisfaction but also contribute to the development of vocational education programs in Korea.” He also stated that “The participating brands and the Korean-German Chamber of Commerce will spare no effort to support trainees in challenges towards their dreams and beyond.”

As the automotive industry reaches a new turning point, the brands participating in Ausbildung and the Korean-German Chamber of Commerce are continually striving to identify and cultivate technical talent in response to the rapidly changing labor environment and demographic shifts. Through ‘Ausbildung 2.0’, they expect to enhance service quality and customer satisfaction by nurturing skilled professionals within the German car service network.

Meanwhile, from April 15 to 19, the first round of Ausbildung recruitment for 2024 will proceed through the recruitment website.
