Kia Takes on the Pickup Market with the All-New Tasman

Kia is challenging the pickup market.

On the 11th (Thursday), Kia unveiled the name of its first-ever pickup truck, the ‘Kia Tasman.’

The name Tasman is derived from ‘Tasmania,’ known as the ‘Island of Inspiration,’ located at the southernmost point of Australia, and the Tasman Sea.

The diverse natural environment and rich culture of Tasmania create a harmonious blend, providing breathtaking landscapes and an array of wildlife that create a stunning scenery unlike anywhere else on Earth.

Kia emphasized a versatile ‘lifestyle pickup’ that inspires new challenges and inspirations in both work and life, reflecting the image of the island that embodies a bold pioneering spirit and the pristine wonders of nature.

Kia plans to roll out the mid-size pickup Tasman globally, starting in 2025, to cater to the growing population engaging in outdoor leisure activities domestically, as well as in Australia, where the term ‘Ute’ shows the strong interest in pickups, and in regions like the Middle East, known for its various off-road environments.

Meanwhile, Kia has also released a video depicting a blacksmith crafting the Kia Tasman emblem, inspired by the natural beauty of Tasmania.

Prior to this, on the 3rd of last month, Kia released a video featuring renowned Australian sports stars guessing the name of the Kia Ute on Kia’s Australian YouTube channel, garnering attention and resonating with the local audience.
