Hyundai Kefico Makes Waves at EVS37: Showcasing Cutting-Edge EV Technologies

Hyundai Kefico announced on the 19th its first participation in the EVS37, a global electric vehicle symposium and exhibition.

The EVS37 (37th International Electric Vehicle Symposium & Exhibition), held from the 23rd for four days at COEX (Samsung-dong, Seoul), is the world’s largest electric vehicle event. The event is organized by the World Electric Vehicle Association (WEVA) and the Asia Pacific Electric Vehicle Association (EVAAP), and with the slogan “Electric Waves to Future Mobility,” it presents an opportunity to glimpse the various issues faced by electric vehicle companies and their solutions.

At EVS37, Hyundai Kefico will showcase key technologies in vehicle electrification such as vehicle integration, power conversion, and charging control technologies, along with ultra-fast EV chargers and autonomous charging technologies. Attendees will be able to see Hyundai Kefico’s solutions that enable integrated energy management through the organic connection between charging-power conversion-vehicle control technologies from the external power grid to the charger and finally to the electric vehicle.

First, it provides a comprehensive view of how Hyundai Kefico’s core control components for electric vehicles interact systemically, including centralized vehicle domain controllers, vehicle charging management systems (VCMS), power conversion systems (OBC, LDC, V2LC, etc.), and battery management systems (BMS, etc.). The differentiated EV chargers with integrated vehicle solution technology are also worth noting. Attendees will meet chargers characterized by excellent performance, safety, and communication compatibility, based on charging system control technology represented by power conversion technology and VCMS. Additionally, Hyundai Kefico plans to present its vision for autonomous charging technology as well.

With over 40 years of expertise in internal combustion engine electronic control systems, Hyundai Kefico is expanding its electrification business based on engine and vehicle control technologies. Especially through its software and hardware integrated design capabilities spanning systems, mechanisms, and circuits, it’s enabling stable and efficient power supply for electric vehicles. Preparing for an era where software defines the vehicle’s performance, sensations, and branding, it is currently developing a high-performance control-based domain integration solution, continuously expanding its new growth engines for future mobility through AI platform support. Hyundai Kefico proved its competitiveness by securing orders for electrification products such as power conversion and charging controllers from not only Hyundai-Kia but also various global electric vehicle manufacturers, pondering plans to broaden its electric vehicle control system and product roadmap to support high-voltage architecture and product functionality integration in the future.

Meanwhile, in December last year, Hyundai Kefico successfully highlighted its entry into the charging infrastructure market by supplying its independently developed ultra-fast EV chargers at Hyundai Motor’s Seosan straight-line driving test track. Based on its experience and know-how satisfying automotive customers’ demands, it provides EV chargers with automotive-level reliability throughout the entire process of design, validation, and manufacturing.

The synergy of the “electric vehicle charging management system controller” and “communication controller” technologies for the chargers has further enhanced communication completeness through sufficient mutual verification testing between vehicles and chargers.

Based on rigorous product durability validation and risk minimization derived from the analysis of physical and non-physical environments at the installation sites, it maximizes the satisfaction of charging station operators. It is also dedicated to preventive maintenance through a self-operated real-time charger maintenance platform and plans to enhance user convenience with 12-hour emergency response and after-sales services.

A Hyundai Kefico spokesperson expressed, “As this EVS37 is an opportunity for Hyundai Kefico to showcase both vehicle electrification control solutions and charging infrastructure, we hope that attendees can richly experience our differentiated capabilities as a provider of mobility electronic control systems,” reflecting expectations for participation in the exhibition.
