Volvo Korea’s Inspiring Earth Hour Initiative: Lighting Up the Path to Sustainability

Volvo Cars Korea announced that it will conduct a lights-out campaign across all Volvo showrooms and service centers in the country for the 54th Earth Day.

This year marks the 54th anniversary of Earth Day, an international observance established on April 22 each year to raise awareness about the importance of protecting our planet’s ecosystems and the severity of environmental pollution.

In celebration of Earth Day, Volvo Cars Korea will turn off all indoor and outdoor lighting, except for essential lights, at all showrooms and service centers nationwide, including its headquarters office, starting at 8 PM on April 22. The official lights-out time is 10 minutes, but Volvo Cars Korea plans to extend this to one hour to take more proactive action.

Lee Yun-mo, CEO of Volvo Cars Korea, stated, “In honor of Earth Day, which emphasizes the importance of environmental protection and safeguarding our planet’s safety, we are participating in this lights-out campaign. Going forward, Volvo Cars Korea will actively engage in various eco-friendly activities for a sustainable future.”

Meanwhile, in accordance with its global roadmap to become a fully carbon-neutral company by 2040, Volvo Cars Korea is undertaking various eco-friendly initiatives. Since 2019, it has been conducting an eco-friendly campaign called ‘Hej Plogging’ where participants pick up litter while jogging, and just last March, it joined the global conservation campaign ‘Earth Hour,’ continuing its efforts to protect the safety of our planet.
