Green Car has revealed customer usage data for 2023. As the car-sharing service matures, the primary customer base is expanding from the 20s into the 30s and older.

Analysis of Green Car users by age group shows that the proportion of members over 30 has surpassed 30% for the first time. Additionally, the average annual rental frequency per person over 30 increased from 4.5 to 5.0 rentals.

Founded in 2009 as Korea’s first car-sharing company, Green Car launched its full commercial service in 2011. As the brand has been established for over a decade, the level of trust in the service has grown, consistently expanding the range of its users. The attractiveness of reasonable transportation costs, usability as a second car, and accessibility of Green Zones located in major cities have effectively drawn in customers aged 30 and older.

In the past year, Green Car members spent a total of 24 million hours and traveled approximately 230 million kilometers. This distance is equivalent to circling the Earth 5,793 times, meaning that Green Car vehicles traveled around the globe 15 times daily over the course of the year.

They opted for Green Car for routine transportation in place of public transport or personal vehicles. Member B, who recorded the longest rental time, averaged 38.8 hours per rental, totaling 6,900 hours annually, likely choosing Green Car for special purposes such as trips and business travel.

The member D, who recorded the highest revenue, spent an average of 111,000 won for each of their 179 rentals, totaling 20 million won. Notably, all members who set these records were over 30, with member A achieving the highest rental count being in their 50s.

Additionally, Green Car members showed a preference for compact vehicles that offer good fuel efficiency and user-friendliness. The most popular vehicle in 2023 was the All-New Avante, which recorded a total of 423,000 rentals. The All-New Avante accounted for 17% of all rentals and 16% of total mileage, establishing itself as the representative vehicle of Green Car. Following closely were the New K3, Seltos 1.6, K5 (3rd generation), and The All-New Niro (Hybrid). Meanwhile, the vehicle with the highest average rentals per unit was the New Spark, which recorded 341 rentals, 46% higher than the overall average of 234 rentals.

The most popular Green Zone was the Sinlim Station Exit 2 (Times Stream), which recorded a total of 9,800 rentals in 2023. Following Times Stream, the top locations were Handong University (Main Entrance Parking Lot), Seoul National University Entrance Exit 3, Daegu University Off-Campus Housing, and Lotte Department Store Yeongdeungpo Branch.

A representative from Green Car stated, “The rapid increase of customers over 30 indicates that car-sharing services have been utilized as a common means of transportation across all age groups since their introduction in Korea over 10 years ago. We would like to express our gratitude to all customers who have used Green Car over the past year, and we will continue to strive to support economical and comfortable mobility in the future.”
