T-Money Wins Prestigious Award for Innovative Payment Technology

“2023 UITP (International Public Transport Association) Award! 2024 TTG (Transport Ticketing Global) Award!”

T-Money announced on the 7th that it won the “Ticketing Technology of the Year” award at the “2024 Transport Ticketing Global Awards” held in London, UK, from the 5th to the 6th. This achievement marks T-Money Tagless Payment as a record holder, receiving the top prize for two consecutive years in the global public transport payment sector.

The T-Money Tagless Payment system was previously recognized for its technological excellence by winning the “Best Innovation in Technology” award at the 2023 UITP Global Public Transport Summit held in Barcelona, Spain.

Currently, T-Money is actively expanding its service with a business agreement signed on the 27th with Incheon Transportation Corporation for the installation expansion and commercialization of Tagless Gates.

Tagless Payment is a system that allows automatic transaction without needing to tag a card when passing through subway gates, utilizing mobile technology, beacons (short-range wireless communication devices), and BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy). This improvement not only greatly enhances the convenience for passengers but also alleviates congestion and inconvenience at gate entrances due to expedited passage.

Kwon Taek-ki, Vice President of T-Money’s Management Support Division, expressed, “We are thrilled that T-Money Tagless Payment has been recognized for its technology worldwide for two consecutive years. We will continue to develop technology for the rapid commercialization of Tagless Payment, leading the next generation of public transport innovation.”

Meanwhile, the Transport Ticketing Global Awards (TTG) is an international awards event celebrating advanced smart ticketing and mobility technology, now in its 13th year, aimed at sharing cutting-edge transport solution technologies. This year, T-Money achieved the top prize after competing against prestigious global companies such as Visa, MasterCard, Google, and Biggs.
