‘Defender 130 P400 Outbound’

JLR Korea is enhancing the Defender lineup with the release of the 2024 All-New Defender 130 P400 Outbound, designed to maximize space and all-terrain performance for the ultimate adventure.

The All-New Defender 130 is a model that ensures comprehensive functionality of the Defender by adding exceptional durability and overwhelming all-terrain performance along with roomy interior space. The All-New Defender 130 P400 Outbound, which maximizes these advantages, provides a generous 5-seat configuration and even more cargo space. It offers adventurers with active and challenging lifestyles the chance to explore anytime and anywhere, designed to accommodate everything needed for their adventures.

The All-New Defender 130 P400 Outbound significantly expands its maximum cargo capacity to 2,516L, perfectly supporting a variety of outdoor lifestyles. Even when using the second-row seats, a spacious cargo area of up to 1,329L can be utilized. Additionally, by folding the second-row seats, the cargo space floor can be made nearly perfectly flat, providing ample space for camping gear, diving equipment, ski gear, bicycles, and more.

The unique silhouette of the All-New Defender allows it to be instantly recognizable, designed to deliver outstanding driving performance on any terrain. The sleekly refined surfaces, bold horizontal lines, strong shoulder line, and squared-off wheel arches showcase the ruggedness and sturdiness of the All-New Defender. Furthermore, it retains the Alpine light windows, side-hinged tailgate, and externally mounted spare wheel, preserving the Defender’s heritage.

The design of the All-New Defender 130 P400 Outbound gives it a strong and dynamic impression. The bumper and front grille feature a Shadow Atlas Matt finish, while the 20-inch wheels are finished in Gloss Black. It offers a total of four body color options: Fuji White, Santorini Black, Carpathian Grey, and Eiger Grey, with a seamless body color panel extending from the C-pillar to the D-pillar to enhance the exterior’s appeal.

Inside, the All-New Defender 130 P400 Outbound provides a luxurious yet practical interior. The seats are upholstered in an Ebony color and finished with a durable Resist material suitable for an outdoor lifestyle. Additionally, the interior is further unified with Ebony-colored headlining and a satin black powder-coated signature cross-car beam of the Defender.

Practical interior elements optimized for outdoor and leisure activities have been incorporated throughout. The sturdy rubber floor mats applied in the cargo area can be folded to protect the vehicle when loading bulky and heavy recreational items like bicycles or travel bags. Moreover, additional storage allows for safely organizing smaller items out of sight, and features such as tie-down points and cargo nets ensure the secure transport of outdoor equipment or cargo.

The 2024 All-New Defender 130 P400 Outbound is equipped with a 3.0-liter I6 gasoline engine featuring mild hybrid (MHEV) technology, delivering smooth yet powerful driving performance. The lightweight aluminum structure houses a twin-scroll turbocharger and a 48V supercharger, combined with a low-friction design. This new 3.0-liter I6 Ingenium gasoline engine works alongside an 8-speed automatic transmission to produce a maximum output of 400 horsepower and a torque of 56.1 kg·m, achieving 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.6 seconds.

Based on Land Rover’s lightweight aluminum monocoque D7x architecture, the All-New Defender 130 P400 Outbound offers robust foundations, enabling it to conquer extreme driving conditions with high body torsional rigidity of up to 29,000 Nm/°. Additionally, the elongated wheelbase and short front and rear overhangs provide an impressive approach angle of 37.5° and a departure angle of 28.5°, ensuring the ultimate adventure in any environment.

Utilizing the D7x architecture, the toughest platform in the brand’s history, the All-New Defender 130 P400 Outbound is equipped with innovative driving technologies including electronic air suspension, adaptive dynamics, and an automatic terrain response system. The electronic air suspension supports raising the ground clearance by up to 145mm, allowing it to ford water up to 900mm deep. Coupled with this air suspension, the adaptive dynamics predict and precisely control body movements such as rolling and pitching based on surface conditions. Furthermore, a twin-speed transfer box ensures accurate speed control depending on driving conditions like steep descents, on/off-road, and towing, complemented by an electronically controlled active rear locking differential for superior off-road capabilities.

The interior of the All-New Defender 130 P400 Outbound features an 11.4-inch curved display that integrates intuitive and clear display arrangements for efficient control of various functions. The state-of-the-art PIVI Pro infotainment system implemented on the large curved display allows 90% of functions to be accessed with just two touches.

With built-in T-map navigation, convenience is further enhanced. Navigation guidance can also be received through the high-definition 12.3-inch interactive display in the driver’s seat. Additionally, the SOTA (Software Over-The-Air) feature allows for automatic updates of various functions, keeping the vehicle always up to date without visiting a service center.

To celebrate the launch of the perfect companion for outdoor adventures, the All-New Defender 130 P400 Outbound, JLR Korea will hold the first-ever ‘Destination Defender’ event in Korea, inviting customers from March 29 to April 14 over three weekends.
