Introducing the Exclusive Volvo XC40 Dark Edition: Unmatched Style Meets Performance

Volvo XC40 Dark Edition

Volvo Cars Korea has launched the globally bestselling SUV, the XC40 Dark Edition, in a limited run of 44 units, available for order on a first-come, first-served basis starting April 2 at 10 a.m. via Volvo’s digital shop.

The XC40, which is part of Volvo’s XC range, is the brand’s first compact SUV and was introduced to the global market in 2017. Based on the brand philosophy of ‘Human-Centric,’ it has created spaces that meet modern needs, while providing advanced features suitable for urban driving, establishing a new standard in the compact SUV segment. In particular, it was awarded ‘European Car of the Year’ in 2018, and has maintained the top spot in European premium compact SUV sales for four consecutive years since 2020.

Since its launch in 2018, it has emerged as a leading model that defines the compact SUV trend in South Korea, continuously seeing demand. With this limited edition release, customers waiting for the XC40 can expect immediate delivery.

The XC40 Dark Edition is Volvo Cars Korea’s first limited production model of the year. It features a unique black design detail based on the Ultimate Dark trim, differentiating it from existing models.

The exterior comes in a single Onyx Black color, with high-gloss black designs applied to the radiator grille, front and rear skid plates, and roof rails. Additionally, it features 20-inch, 5-double spoke black diamond-cut wheels, enhancing its sporty image. Unique to the Dark Edition, Volvo provides a blond leather and black leather key case.

The interior includes Drift Wood, showcasing the natural texture of wood, and an Orrefors® crystal gear knob that adds a touch of luxury. The cabin is equipped with a Harman Kardon sound system, optimized for vehicle space, providing a Swedish luxury sound quality experience. It also boasts an advanced air purification system that monitors fine dust (PM 2.5) and pollen, blocking up to 95% from entering the cabin.

The powertrain is equipped with a gasoline-based mild hybrid (MHEV) that delivers a maximum output of 197 horsepower and a peak torque of 30.6 kg∙m, along with an all-wheel drive (AWD) system. The 48V battery assists the engine output during starting and accelerating, providing an additional 14 horsepower for more agile driving. The AWD system, based on state-of-the-art 5th generation Haldex technology from Sweden, offers improved handling, vehicle stability, and reduced fuel consumption.

Particularly enhanced through the ‘integrated Tmap infotainment service,’ which combines South Korea’s top-quality navigation ‘Tmap,’ the AI platform ‘NUGU,’ and user-preference-based music platform ‘FLO,’ the XC40 Dark Edition provides increased safety and personalized travel experiences.

The vehicle also features advanced connectivity options that optimize individual lifestyles with capabilities like real-time traffic light information and 3D mapping based on the next-generation intelligent transportation system (C-ITS). It offers personalized routines for destination setting, music playing, and other services with a single voice command, as well as daily briefings of dates and personal schedules. Moreover, it includes 15 years of free wireless updates (OTA) and a 5-year package for digital services, allowing the smart car to evolve over time.

Yoon Mo Lee, CEO of Volvo Cars Korea, stated, “The XC40 Dark Edition is a limited production model prepared to showcase another expression of the Swedish luxury brand’s essence. We hope that customers can experience the XC40’s appeal, which has ranked number one in compact SUVs in Europe for four consecutive years, with its unique design right away.”

Additionally, the XC40 Dark Edition’s selling price is set at the same 54.3 million won (including VAT) as existing models, despite being packaged with unique black design elements and a limited-edition key case.

Sales will begin on a first-come, first-served basis through the Volvo Digital Shop (www.volvodigitalshop.com) starting April 2 at 10 a.m., allowing for immediate delivery based on contract order. A special exhibition will also take place at Starfield Hanam, Goyang, and Seo-Suwon for approximately one month, starting March 26, where customers can see it in person.
