Hyundai Unveils the New Tucson and Santa Cruz at the 2024 New York Auto Show

On the 27th of March (local time), Hyundai Motor Company unveiled the ‘New Tucson’ at the <2024 New York International Auto Show> held at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York, marking its first introduction in North America and announcing its official launch.

The Tucson is a refreshed model that Hyundai is presenting to the North American market for the first time in three years, designed to meet customer expectations with its high-quality design and various convenience features.

Jose Munoz, President of Hyundai North America, stated, “The Tucson is a compact SUV favored by North American customers, combining excellent design with performance that ensures stable driving under a variety of road conditions and weather situations,” and added, “With a diverse lineup including eco-friendly models, we aim to offer customers a wide and attractive driving experience.”

In addition, Hyundai also showcased the improved model of the North American-specific pickup truck, the ‘Santa Cruz,’ for the first time, alongside a range of acclaimed electric vehicles including the Ioniq 5, Ioniq 6, and Ioniq 5 N.

The newly introduced Tucson features major highlights such as ▲ dynamic and future-oriented design ▲ significantly improved spacious and smart interior ▲ a diverse lineup ranging from HEV, PHEV to internal combustion engines ▲ top-level product competitiveness that transcends vehicle categories.

It exhibits a robust and dynamic exterior design, implementing a level of refinement and practicality in its interior design that is akin to a new vehicle, along with sportier XRT and N Line models.

Additionally, advanced driving technologies have been applied, enhancing refinement to elevate the driving experience, and overall crash safety performance has been improved with the addition of second-row side airbags and body reinforcements.

The hybrid and plug-in hybrid models feature an advanced hybrid system called ‘E-Motion Drive,’ which utilizes the drive motor to enhance driving performance and ride comfort.

Moreover, various infotainment and convenience features preferred by customers have been incorporated, such as a seamless connection between a 12.3-inch cluster and an infotainment system ▲ panoramic curved display ▲ digital key 2 ▲ interior fingerprint authentication system ▲ Hyundai CarPay, significantly boosting overall product appeal.

Hyundai also globally unveiled the North American-exclusive pickup truck, the ‘2025 Santa Cruz’, at the New York Auto Show.

The Santa Cruz is the first improved model unveiled since its launch in the North American market in 2021, featuring a sleek design and various advanced convenience features that greatly enhance its product appeal.

Hyundai has implemented a bolder and tougher exterior design for the Santa Cruz along with an interior design emphasizing practicality and technology. The off-road style design elements are reflected in the Santa Cruz XRT model, which is also on offer.

In addition, the new model has applied advanced driving technologies and strengthened safety performance, as well as new features such as ▲ panoramic curved display ▲ digital key 2 ▲ interior fingerprint authentication system ▲ Hyundai CarPay ▲ wireless software updates.

President Jose Munoz stated, “The newly unveiled Santa Cruz is developed with a goal of a bolder and tougher design,” adding that “Besides the design changes that convey a solid impression, enhancements in driving performance such as off-road capabilities and various new safety and convenience features make it a true sports adventure vehicle.”

Hyundai also highlighted the 26th anniversary of its campaign, ‘Hyundai Hope On Wheels,’ aimed at combating childhood cancer, during the New York Auto Show.

The Hope On Wheels campaign is a leading social contribution initiative by Hyundai in the United States, launched to contribute to ending childhood cancer by supporting innovative research and treatment for this major cause of death among children.

Since 1998, Hyundai has established the Hope On Wheels foundation with American dealers, supporting hospitals and research institutions related to childhood cancer.

Additionally, to commemorate the 26th anniversary of Hope On Wheels, Hyundai announced a $26 million donation this year, bringing the total donated amount to $250 million.
