Experience Spring with Uplus’ Massive ‘Munner’ Popup Exhibition in Yeouido

Uplus’ new character ‘Munner’

LG Uplus announced on the 31st that it will hold a massive popup exhibition titled ‘Munner’s Spring Picnic’, introducing its representative character ‘Munner’ from March 30 to April 14 for 16 days in the Yeouido area.

‘Munner’ embodies the confident persona of a fresh, new entrant from the MZ generation. Last year, it resonated strongly with the MZ generation by sharing relatable messages both online and offline, even winning the Minister of Culture Award in the character category at the ‘2023 Korea Content Awards’.

Aligning with the ‘Yeouido Cherry Blossom Festival’, attracting around 4 million visitors annually, LG Uplus has designed this popup exhibition under the ‘Spring Picnic’ concept.

To create happy memories for citizens visiting for cherry blossom viewing, an exhibition spread over approximately 2,300 pyeong has been set up near Han River Park, close to Yeoinaru Station. This event is the largest character popup exhibition held in Korea to date.

First, a cruise ship has been transformed into the ‘Munner Ship’. Various fun activities have been arranged, including a ‘Munner plush toy claw machine’, a ‘drawing contest’ where participants can freely paint on an art wall, a ‘treasure hunt’ searching for hidden cherry blossom Munner, and a ‘Munner 4-cut’ instant photo booth. Additionally, an event will reward the first 50 customers who complete small missions each day with Munner picnic chairs.

Targeting the MZ generation, who enjoy sharing photos on social media platforms like Instagram, the exhibition features a massive photo zone with four Munner figures and various photo spots, as well as resting areas where visitors can enjoy packed lunches, ramen, chicken, and beer under the shade of Munner character umbrellas.

A ‘Munner Store’ will also be available for visitors to check out and purchase Munner merchandise, including plush toys, figures, socks, and eco-bags, totaling over 50 varieties. Customers who verify their U+ membership will receive a 10% discount, and members of the Z generation exclusive brand ‘Uth’ can receive free Munner character postcards daily to the first 500 people.

LG Uplus will operate an experience space for the newly introduced Munner KakaoTalk emoticons on March 29, along with the first unveiling of five limited edition emoticon goods. Customers who purchase emoticons and complete verification will receive a ‘Munner 4-cut’ photo shoot opportunity.

Kim Da-rim, head of IMC at LG Uplus, stated, “Munner, who received much love last year, is set to kick off full-fledged activities starting with the Yeouido Cherry Blossom Festival in 2024,” and added, “We hope citizens who visit for cherry blossom viewing not only enjoy the cherry blossom scenery but also have a differentiated brand experience while enjoying a spring picnic with Munner.”

Meanwhile, LG Uplus had previously recorded the highest attendance of 45,000 visitors during a two-week Munner character popup exhibition held last July at the MZ taste community ‘Everyday is a Gap by U+’.
