Scania Korea Launches Recruitment for Third Cohort of Technician Academy

On February 5, Scania Korea announced the selection of students for its technician training program, the ‘Scania Technician Academy’, which trains experts in commercial vehicle maintenance.

Established in 2022 to nurture specialized technicians who will lead the commercial vehicle industry, the Scania Technician Academy has been conducted consistently every year.

Selected students will receive systematic education in commercial vehicle maintenance and gain firsthand experience of the industry’s working environment. With high competition since its first cohort, students were selected in the first and second cohorts, and some of them have been hired as full-time employees to work at Scania Korea’s direct service centers. The ‘Scania Technician Academy’, recognized as a program for nurturing skilled professionals, will increase its student recruitment from once a year to twice a year, with one recruitment each in the first and second halves starting this year due to high demand.

Applicants must be at least 18 years old and interested in automotive maintenance, with recruitment running from February 5 to February 21, for 17 days. Interested candidates can submit their resumes and self-introductions through the official Scania Korea website. After document screening and an interview process, the third cohort of students will be finally selected, and successful candidates will be notified individually.

Starting from March 5, selected students will receive systematic theoretical and technical training from Scania professional trainers at Scania Korea’s headquarters (Nonhyeon-dong, Seoul) and Training Center (Sacheon, Gyeongnam). They will then be assigned to nearby Scania Korea direct service centers for one-on-one maintenance training and hands-on practical training. The total training duration is three months, during which Scania Korea will provide a stipend (training fees), insurance, medical expenses, meal support, and necessary work clothing and equipment to ensure students are able to complete their training smoothly. Students completing the technician training program will receive certificates, and additionally, graduates who apply for technician positions at Scania Korea’s direct service centers will receive extra points.

Last year’s second cohort participant, Yoo Young-eun, who successfully joined as a technician at Scania Korea’s Yangsan service center, commented, “Scania’s maintenance training is very well-structured, allowing me to make significant progress in the training process, and the on-site job experience was a great opportunity to enhance my practical skills. Above all, the one-on-one training and mentoring from experienced Scania master technicians were a significant advantage that strengthened my vision and capabilities to grow as a maintenance expert.”

Jarkko Ketola, CEO of Scania Korea, stated, “Since we do not limit the selection of students based on academic background or major, anyone interested in commercial vehicle maintenance can apply, making it a great opportunity to grow as a commercial vehicle maintenance expert. We expect to discover and nurture outstanding talents who will lead the commercial vehicle industry through this third cohort program while also providing distinct premium services that meet the rising expectations and demands of our customers.”
