Peugeot’s Remarkable 2023 Global Sales Performance Revealed

On the 7th of the month (local time), Peugeot announced its global sales performance for 2023.

Last year, Peugeot achieved a total of 1,124,268 units sold worldwide, marking a 6% increase compared to the previous year. Moreover, the brand recorded its highest market share in 17 countries, and the percentage of sales outside the European Union (EU) rose slightly by 0.8 percentage points to 28.2%, continuing the successful trajectory of Peugeot’s ‘internationalization’ strategy.

By country, France led the sales with 305,295 units, followed by Italy (91,319 units), the United Kingdom (88,467 units), Turkey (78,632 units), and Spain (75,625 units). By continent, Europe recorded a total of 811,722 units, while the Middle East-Africa region accounted for 135,065 units, South America for 103,660 units, India-Asia Pacific for 60,597 units, and North America for 13,224 units.

Europe saw a year of strengthened presence in the electrification model market. The all-electric vehicle lineup, the ‘E-208’ and ‘E-2008 SUV’, continued to lead the B segment electric vehicle market for two consecutive years, following their success in 2022. In the light commercial vehicle (LCV) market, Peugeot took the lead with its electrified lineup, including the ‘E-Partner’, ‘E-Expert’, and ‘E-Boxer’. Last year, 18% of Peugeot vehicles sold in the EU’s 29 countries were electrified models, such as battery electric vehicles (BEVs) and plug-in hybrids (PHEVs).

Peugeot is on a strategic path to become a leading mobility brand in the European electric vehicle market by 2025, offering the most diverse electric vehicle lineup among mass-market brands in Europe. Additionally, they are implementing various plans to make it easier for customers to participate in carbon-neutral mobility.

Linda Jackson, CEO of Peugeot, stated, “In a highly competitive year in 2023, achieving a 6% increase in sales despite challenging market conditions, and a growth of approximately 1% outside Europe, is significant. It was a year where we solidified our position as a market leader in the European B segment electric vehicle market with the E-208 and E-2008 SUV.”
