Samsung SDI Unveils Ambitious Plans for 2024 Amid Electric Vehicle Revolution

‘Samsung SDI CEO Choi Yun-ho’

“In 2024, we anticipate a temporary slowdown in growth due to our entry into the electric vehicle sector and the ongoing global economic downturn, necessitating changes and innovations across all business divisions.”

On the 2nd, CEO Choi Yun-ho made this statement at the ‘New Year’s 2024’ event held in the auditorium of the Giheung plant.

To this end, he stated, “Focusing on the recently established ASB Project Team, we must aggressively pursue the commercialization of solid-state batteries, which are game changers for the future battery market, to secure leadership in next-generation products and technology.”

He added, “As the adoption rate of electric vehicles increases, customer demands for price competitiveness are intensifying,” and insisted that they would secure “the highest level of cost competitiveness globally to respond proactively to market changes.”

Additionally, Choi emphasized the need to “expand strategic partnerships with existing customers while continuously discovering new clients and enhancing competitiveness in underperforming electronic materials and components.”

Moreover, he highlighted that it is crucial to “secure superior talent and expand global R&D centers to establish outstanding technological competitiveness as early as possible,” and insisted that “through compliance management and ESG management in all these processes, we must bolster our foundation for sustainable growth.”

Finally, Choi urged, “Let us strive together so that the Year of the Blue Dragon can be like a dragon soaring through the clouds with changes and innovations that are on a different level from the past, symbolically representing ‘Flying Dragon Riding the Clouds (飛龍乘雲)’.”

Meanwhile, the ‘New Year’s 2024’ event was attended by about 200 employees, featuring awards for outstanding employees, certification of Samsung Masters, a New Year’s video presentation, and a New Year’s message, which was broadcast live to all domestic business sites.
