Porsche has achieved a new lap record for electric vehicles at the Nürburgring Nordschleife with the latest Taycan.

Kevin Giek, head of product line, stated, “In motorsport, 26 seconds is almost an eternity, and this lap time of 7 minutes and 7.55 seconds elevates the Taycan to the ranks of electric hypercars. What’s even more impressive is the sustainability of the performance, recording almost identical times across several laps.”

Kern expressed, “I pushed the Taycan and myself to the limit.” The exclusive use of the Nürburgring Nordschleife was secured for this record-breaking lap time attempt, with a roll cage and racing bucket seats installed for safety.

Kern entered the Schwedenkreuz section at a speed 25 km/h faster than his previous record set in 2022 with the Taycan Turbo S at the pre-production Taycan. The lap time that crossed the Grandstand 13 (T13) finish line was identical to that of the Taycan Turbo S as it just passed the Antoniusbuche section.

This race, conducted on a 20.8 km course in the Eifel region of Germany, demonstrated that the pre-production Taycan outperformed the current Taycan Turbo S by over 1.3 km, showcasing its exceptional performance. A complete video of Kern’s lap will be released in mid-March.
