Unveiling the New Wrangler 2024: A Refined Off-Road Icon

Stellantis Korea President Jake Aumann

On the 3rd, Stellantis Korea held the launch event for ‘The New Wrangler 2024’ at the Jeep Songpa showroom. Since the release of the first generation model in 1986, the Wrangler has become synonymous with off-road SUVs, selling over 5 million units worldwide. After its introduction in 2017, the Wrangler has undergone a facelift for the first time in six years.

The iconic front end, featuring seven vertical grilles and round LED headlights, has transformed into a more dynamic appearance, true to its off-road SUV nature.

The four-door Rubicon measures 4,910 x 1,940 x 1,990 mm, making it an ideal size for family camping trips. The wheelbase is 3,010 mm, providing ample headroom and legroom in the second row.

The latest Wrangler greatly improves convenience, equipped with a 12.3-inch center display that offers a more open feel compared to previous models. Additionally, connectivity has been enhanced, now utilizing the Uconnect 5 system—five times faster than before—and allowing for wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration.

The Rubicon model features napa leather seats in both the driver and front passenger positions, enhancing ride comfort during harsh off-road adventures. It’s not just an off-road SUV but provides a seating comfort on par with luxury sedans. Furthermore, heated seats and steering wheel options have been added, allowing for more comfort during cold weather.

From this model onward, a stealth antenna replaces the previous steel antenna, emphasizing a sleeker design compared to prior versions.

The Wrangler is powered by a 2.0-liter gasoline engine producing 272 horsepower and 40.8 kg·m of torque, paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. This allows for seamless performance on both on-road and off-road terrains.

The Wrangler’s 4X4 system offers either a 2.72:1 Select-Trac full-time 4WD system or a 4:1 Rock-Trac 4WD system, depending on the trim. The Select-Terrain traction management system enables driving across various terrains such as snow, mud, and sand.

Safety features have also seen a significant upgrade. The vehicle is now equipped with advanced driving assistance systems such as adaptive cruise control, advanced brake assist, and Forward Collision Warning Plus. Additionally, side airbags are standard to enhance protection in the event of a side collision. According to President Jake, the New Wrangler has evolved to enhance safety and convenience features significantly.

The New Wrangler will be sold in three trims in South Korea: Sport S, Sahara, and Rubicon.

The prices are as follows: Sport S is priced at 69.7 million won, Sahara four-door hardtop at 78.9 million won, Sahara four-door power top at 82.4 million won, Rubicon two-door hardtop at 76.4 million won, Rubicon four-door hardtop at 80.4 million won, and Rubicon four-door power top at 83.9 million won.
