Porsche’s New Taycan: Rigorous Testing and Exciting Enhancements Ahead

Porsche has completed the simulation and test bench verification of the new Taycan, which is set to be unveiled early this year, and is currently conducting final durability tests on handling circuits and public roads.

Kevin Giek, Vice President of the Taycan product line, stated, “The new Taycan has improved in all areas compared to the previous model,” adding that, “Due to this extensive change, testing has been conducted at a level equivalent to developing a completely new model.”

The new Taycan will be revealed in three product lines: the ‘Taycan Sports Sedan,’ the versatile ‘Taycan Cross Turismo’ with an off-road package, and the sporty yet practical ‘Taycan Sport Turismo.’

Out of a total of 3.6 million kilometers of test driving, 300,000 kilometers were conducted in extreme cold climates, and 200,000 kilometers in extreme heat. In the frozen terrain of Finland, 350 km north of the Arctic Circle, the Taycan demonstrated excellent driving dynamics and halved the charging time, proving its potential. Conversely, durability tests were also conducted in the extreme heat of California’s Death Valley. The Porsche development team focused on the stability of the battery charging system and thermal management system under severe climate conditions.

Florian Schtahl, head of Taycan testing, emphasized, “Porsche’s electric vehicles go through a rigorous testing program, similar to internal combustion engine sports cars, aiming for everyday usability under all climatic conditions and outstanding performance.” He also stated, “The new Taycan is set to complete final tests under extreme climate conditions in 17 countries around the world, with temperature variations from minus 41 degrees Celsius to plus 53 degrees Celsius before its launch.”
