Lotte Rental Launches Season Seven of Eco-Friendly Driving Donation Campaign

Lotte Rental announced on the 31st that it has launched the seventh season of its ‘Eco-Friendly Donation Driving Campaign,’ where customers can earn 50 won for every kilometer driven in an electric vehicle.

The ‘Eco-Friendly Donation Driving Campaign’ is the first customer participation-based CSR activity in South Korea using eco-friendly electric vehicles. Customers automatically participate when renting an electric car from the Lotte Rental Auto House in Jeju. A donation is accumulated at 50 won for every kilometer driven in the electric vehicle. Since its inception in 2018, the campaign operates annually, and the accumulated donations are used to support accessibility for children with disabilities and provide mobility aids for rehabilitation.

This year marks the 7th year of the campaign, with approximately 18,000 short-term electric vehicle rental customers participating since 2018. The total accumulated distance driven is about 11 million kilometers, resulting in donations totaling 260 million won.

The initiative connects contributions towards supporting children with disabilities while promoting environmental protection and energy conservation, thus realizing social values of ‘environmental protection’ and ‘support for the mobility-impaired’ together.

Lotte Rental is conducting various activities under the slogan, ‘The More You Drive, The More Giving Grows.’ Starting this year, the company will also implement a program called ‘Worry-Free Trip with Lotte Rental Car’ which supports 1-night, 2-day trips for families with children with disabilities who have mobility challenges, beginning in May, held twice a year. Additionally, Lotte Rental has established a sponsorship with the facility for disabled children, Seunggawon, to regularly support the maintenance of the facility’s vehicles aimed at ensuring safe transportation for children with disabilities. A volunteer group made up of Lotte Rental employees, called ‘Charotte,’ is actively carrying out various charitable activities, such as hands-on volunteering, food distribution drives, and holiday events for children.

Choi Jin-hwan, CEO of Lotte Rental stated, “We firmly believe the core of corporate social responsibility lies in authenticity and continuity. We have consistently continued our activities supporting socially vulnerable people.” He added, “This campaign allows everyone to join in the giving effort without feeling any burden, as it not only permits them to try out eco-friendly vehicles while contributing to CSR.” He urged customers to participate and show interest this year.
