GLC Coupe

Mercedes-Benz Korea has officially launched the luxury mid-size SUV coupe, the “GLC 300 4MATIC Coupe.”

First introduced in 2017, the GLC Coupe has been beloved for its stylish design combined with sporty driving performance. The new GLC Coupe is fully redesigned as a second-generation model, featuring evolved exterior and interior designs with stylish and elegant lines, dynamic driving performance, high efficiency, and a variety of convenient features.

Killian Tellen, Vice President of Product, Marketing, and Digital Business at Mercedes-Benz Korea, stated, “The new GLC Coupe offers a stylish design that combines elegance and sportiness, along with dynamic driving performance and enhanced safety features, providing customers with an attractive experience across various lifestyles, including everyday and off-road driving.”

The new GLC 300 4MATIC Coupe showcases a front-end design where the headlamps and radiator grille are smoothly connected, maximizing the vehicle’s width. Additionally, it features an AMG front apron with a signature Mercedes-Benz radiator grille pattern and a sleekly designed air intake, an AMG rear apron with a diffuser look, and AMG side sill panels that enhance its sporty aesthetic. 20-inch AMG multi-spoke lightweight alloy wheels and wheel arch liners in the same color as the vehicle create a clean and confident appearance.

The wheelbase has been extended by 15mm compared to the previous generation, achieving a dynamic ratio. Additionally, it boasts an improved drag coefficient of 0.27Cd, which is 0.03Cd better than the previous generation. The rear of the vehicle highlights its width and three-dimensionality with two rear lamps naturally connected by bold red design elements.

Moreover, the panoramic sunroof that comes standard on the new GLC Coupe is 6cm longer than that of the new GLC SUV, providing exceptional openness, and the roller blind can be easily controlled electronically. The running boards, which are also standard, assist passengers in safely entering and exiting the vehicle.

The new GLC Coupe features a 12.3-inch high-resolution LCD screen for the driver, and an 11.9-inch display slightly tilted toward the driver in the center, equipped with the latest telematics NTG7 and a second-generation MBUX infotainment system for a more digitized user experience.

The dashboard is enhanced with new design air vents that add a modern touch. The door panel design is simplified, and the door handle and seat adjustment buttons are integrated into a single cluster for a clean impression. A newly designed multifunction sports steering wheel with improved switch pads and touch control buttons, made of Nappa leather, adds a luxurious feel, and the new design of seats with headrests connected to the backrest enhances sportiness.

The new GLC Coupe offers a more spacious feeling for passengers with an extended wheelbase compared to the previous generation, and the trunk space has also increased by 45L to a generous 545L. When the second-row seats are folded down, the trunk space can be expanded up to 1,490L, which is an increase of 90L compared to the previous generation.

The new GLC 300 4MATIC Coupe features a four-cylinder gasoline engine (M254) combined with a 48V electrical system, implementing a mild hybrid system that delivers a maximum output of 258 ps and maximum torque of 40.8 kgf·m.

The mild hybrid system supports a maximum additional electric supply of 17 kW to the internal combustion engine through the second-generation integrated starter generator (ISG), aiding in a quick and smooth engine start. Moreover, it supports gliding, boosting, and regenerative braking for high efficiency.

In addition, the new GLC Coupe is equipped with off-road driving modes and downhill speed regulation (DSR) functions, providing driving power and safety that seamlessly transition between on-road and off-road environments. The off-road screen displays necessary information for off-road driving, such as terrain incline, gradient, altitude, geographical coordinates, compass, and steering angle on the driver’s and central display. Moreover, a transparent bonnet linked to a 360-degree camera shows the terrain beneath the front of the vehicle that isn’t visible to the driver, thus aiding in recognizing obstacles like rocks and potholes ahead.

For customers desiring even more agility and stable driving, rear axle steering with a maximum of 4.5 degrees and Airmatic air suspension are available as options.

The new GLC 300 4MATIC Coupe comes equipped with the latest Driving Assistance Package Plus, featuring advanced driving assistance systems.

Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC, which maintains distance from the car ahead and supports automatic speed control, braking, and starting, has been improved to react to stationary vehicles on the road at speeds of up to 100 km/h (previously 60 km/h). Active Steering Assist has been enhanced to include lane detection capabilities through the 360-degree camera, and Traffic Sign Assist has been augmented to recognize not only speed limit signs but also construction warning signs. Additionally, Active Lane Keeping Assist can control steering to guide the vehicle back into its lane or warn through steering wheel vibrations if the vehicle drifts out of its lane. Active Lane Change Assist supports safe lane changes, and PRE-SAFE® Impulse Side inflates side bolsters to protect front seat occupants in the event of a side collision.

The digital light system boasts a resolution of over one million pixels per headlamp, supporting safe driving without disturbing other drivers’ vision. The digital lights optimize the brightness of each headlamp pixel in real time based on data collected via cameras, sensors, and navigation. Enhanced intelligent functions such as Adaptive Highbeam Assist Plus and Ultra Range Highbeam are also included. MBUX augmented reality navigation helps provide more intuitive guidance by overlaying virtual driving lines on images captured by the forward camera.

Thanks to the integration of NTG7 telematics, features like a fingerprint scanner for easy driver identification, digital key sharing that allows remotely unlocking the car through the Mercedes me app while leaving the key inside the car, and a toll settlement system displaying transaction amounts and balances on the central display enhance the digital experience.

Additionally, the Burmester surround sound system offers a new level of sound experience with 15 premium speakers and 710W output, personalized sound capabilities, while the Winter Package includes a heated steering wheel and heated hand washer system. Noise-insulated glass enhances comfort by reducing heat and noise, and the air purification package along with front seat heating and ventilation ensures a pleasant driving environment.
