KG Mobility’s Korando EV Taxi: The Future of Eco-Friendly Rides

‘Korando EV Taxi’

KG Mobility is now accepting pre-orders for the Korando EV Taxi model, which is set to launch in June.

The Korando EV is an electric SUV designed with a distinctive style, utilizing the Korando platform. After its launch in February 2022, it gained immense popularity in Europe but faced a temporary sales halt in Korea due to battery supply chain challenges. Now, it’s making a comeback with enhanced features, including improved battery and motor specifications, aiming to provide excellent value for money.

The Korando EV is expected to dominate its competition in terms of value for money, featuring a dedicated taxi trim that meets standards for mid-size electric taxis. Pre-orders will be accepted until May.

Customers who pre-order the Korando EV Taxi will benefit from an extended warranty period for the motor, going beyond competitors’ 10 years/160,000 km, to a domestic maximum of 10 years/300,000 km. Additionally, the battery warranty matches the Torres EVX’s, offering a remarkable 10 years/1,000,000 km warranty.

The pre-order promotion for the Korando EV Taxi includes an exclusive offer for customers purchasing outright: a one-time free replacement of the special Korando EV tires (18”) within the warranty period. Additionally, installment plan customers will enjoy a 60-month interest-free benefit (50% down payment), translating to a remarkable financial program of about 8,000 won per day.

The newly launched battery for the Korando EV, applied in the Torres EVX, is a 73.4 kWh Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) blade battery known for its safety and durability. It achieves a range of 403 km on a single charge, which is deemed ample for a taxi’s daily operation (based on internal measurements, subject to change at the time of launch).

Moreover, it is known to feature a 152.2 kW front-wheel-drive motor, optimized with torque tuning for impressive performance, achieving maximum output of 207 horsepower and peak torque of 34.6 kgf·m.

The Korando EV Taxi model includes numerous convenience and safety features standard to cater to drivers who spend long hours on the road. Comfort features include an 8-way adjustable driver seat with 4-way electric lumbar support, ventilated and heated driver’s seat, Full LED headlights, and a 9-inch infotainment navigation package.

Additionally, as a dedicated taxi model, the Korando EV Taxi features pre-wired setups for taxi meters, PVC floor mats to prevent floor contamination, and an individual heating system to minimize reduction in driving range during winter, making it particularly appealing to taxi drivers.

Moreover, essential safety features (ADAS) such as emergency braking assist, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, safe distance warning, driver inattention warning, center lane keeping assistance, front vehicle departure warning, front parking assist warning, and smart high beam are included as standard.

The final selling price of the Korando EV will be confirmed at the time of launch, and due to pre-orders, it is expected that the taxi model will have a selling price ranging approximately from 39,300,000 KRW to 39,800,000 KRW for individual taxi operators, and from 43,230,000 KRW to 43,780,000 KRW for corporate/individual general tax operators. Depending on local electric vehicle subsidies, it is anticipated that the effective purchase price could drop to around 20 million KRW.
