KG Mobility Unveils New Flexible Production Line at Pyeongtaek Plant

KG Mobility held a completion ceremony for the integrated assembly line at the Pyeongtaek factory, aiming to secure flexibility in mixed production and fully launch the production.

At the ‘Completion Ceremony for Assembly Line 3 Integration’ held at KGM’s Pyeongtaek factory, Chairman Kwak Jae-seon, along with Production Division Head Park Jang-ho and other executives, as well as related staff from the production technology department, attended to reaffirm their commitment to creating the best cars with the latest equipment.

After receiving a report on the progress of the assembly line integration, Chairman Kwak meticulously inspected the newly installed equipment and conducted a commemorative photo session with the employees.

In his speech, Chairman Kwak expressed gratitude to the employees for successfully completing the project without any safety incidents over two months, and emphasized the importance of achieving production efficiency while maintaining perfect product quality to meet customer expectations.

Since mid-October, KGM has been working on the integration project to enable mixed production of monocoque (unibody) vehicles from the assembly line 2 and body-on-frame (frame body) vehicles from the assembly line 3. During this period, the production of Rexton and Rexton Sports & Kahn, which were previously manufactured on the assembly line 3, was completely halted, resulting in delays in customer deliveries, but the completion of this project will allow normal supply to resume.

As a result, KGM will not only continue producing Rexton and Rexton Sports & Kahn on the newly integrated assembly line 3 but will also meet customer demands by simultaneously producing the monocoque (unibody) SUVs like Torres and Torres EVX. This integration lays the groundwork for maximizing the plant’s production capacity (240,000 units/year) in the long term and allows for balance in line operations to maximize efficiency.
