Lamborghini Unveils Super SUV Urus Performante for Italian Highway Patrol

Lamborghini has provided the Italian Highway Police with a special super SUV, the Urus Performante, for specific missions. The supported Urus Performante will be deployed starting in 2024 for special tasks, including emergency medical transport like organ and plasma delivery.

A vehicle handover ceremony was held on Tuesday, December 12, at the Viminale Square in front of the Italian Ministry of the Interior. Stephan Winkelmann, the president of Automobili Lamborghini, handed over the keys to the Urus Performante police vehicle to Matteo Piantedosi, the Italian Minister of the Interior.

The Urus Performante delivered this time is the sixth vehicle that Lamborghini has provided to the police department. Since 2004, Automobili Lamborghini has been cooperating with the Italian police for 20 years. Lamborghini continues to support police special mission vehicles, including the Huracan LP610-4.

Stephan Winkelmann stated, “Our collaboration with the Italian police over the past 20 years is a testament to the close relationship between Italy and Lamborghini,” adding, “It is a source of pride for both the company and its employees that our vehicles are utilized for public service and, above all, for saving lives.”

The Urus Performante delivered to the police has been specially designed to meet police guidelines. The vehicle’s exterior, designed by Lamborghini’s Centro Stile, harmoniously combines the classic blue and white colors of the Italian police, with the three colors of the Italian flag highlighted on the door and belt’s accent lines. The police logo is applied with reflective film on the doors, and the roof is equipped with a 360° blue LED light bar and electric siren.

The driver’s seat is equipped with a weapon storage box and a flip-down message display. Various equipment, including an AED for emergency first aid, is stored in the trunk, reflecting the needs required for public service duties. Notably, a portable refrigerator essential for emergency medical transport, such as organ delivery, is included, along with a display and data logger to continuously monitor internal temperatures.

The Urus Performante is powered by a V8 twin-turbo engine that produces a maximum torque of 850 Nm between 2,300 and 4,500 rpm. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.3 seconds, with a top speed of 306 km/h. With its class-leading driving dynamics and performance, it set a new record for production SUVs in the 2022 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, clocking in at 10 minutes and 32.064 seconds, proving its incredible capabilities.
