3rd Generation Facelifted New G80

Genesis is set to launch the G80 facelift model on the 26th (Tuesday).

The G80 has led the establishment of the Genesis brand through its first-generation (2008) and second-generation (2013) models, contributing to over 400,000 units sold globally since its debut under the G80 name in 2016, and helping the Genesis brand surpass a cumulative global sales milestone of 1 million units. (Note: G80 sales figures include the 3rd generation G80 and G80 electrified model)

Launched in March 2020, the 3rd generation G80 has showcased the essence of Genesis’ values in design, driving performance, and customer service, gaining global acclaim for its excellence and competitiveness. With this facelift, it has been transformed into an even more refined model.

The latest G80 features an exterior that reflects the brand’s design philosophy of ‘dynamic elegance,’ enhanced by meticulous and flamboyant details, a luxurious yet high-tech interior design, and a variety of convenience and safety features that provide the latest mobility experiences.

Genesis has refined the existing G80’s dynamic and elegant style while enhancing the details of major design elements such as the bumpers and lamps to elevate its sophistication.

The front end features a crest grille designed with a double-mesh structure to create a refined and luxurious appearance, while the Genesis iconic double-line headlights incorporate MLA (Micro Lens Array) technology to emphasize the harmony of advanced technology and luxury design.

On the sides, newly applied 20-inch 5 double-spoke wheels reflect the dynamism reminiscent of an airplane propeller, achieving perfect harmony with the elegant and luxurious body lines. The rear features a V-shaped chrome trim inspired by the Genesis crest grille design and hidden mufflers, creating a futuristic look.

The G80’s exterior colors include a total of 10 options, featuring a new color called ‘Brooklyn Brown’. (Note: This includes the sport package exclusive color ‘Cavendish Red’)

Inside, the G80 boasts a horizontal design emphasizing spaciousness, combined with a high-tech feel to create a superior luxury experience.

The interior color options for the G80 include Black Monotone, Camel Monotone, Gray/Beige Two-tone, Brown/Blue Two-tone, and Black/Red Two-tone (Note: Exclusive to the Sports Package).

Genesis has added various convenience and safety features to enhance the G80’s high value as a luxury large sedan.

The latest specifications offering advanced mobility experiences include independently controlled tri-zone climate control for the first and second rows, Digital Key 2, an indoor fingerprint authentication system, UV sterilization functions for the console armrest storage compartment, and heated armrests, improving the product’s competitiveness.

Furthermore, a new seating position memory system for the passenger seat has been introduced, along with a rear electric curtain, manual rear door curtains, and a multifunctional armrest for the rear seats to enhance satisfaction for passengers in the rear.

Genesis has strengthened the voice recognition function installed in the G80, expanding its control range. This allows for navigation, media control, and various vehicle system settings and searches through natural language voice commands, along with access to the vehicle manual and daily checks.

In addition, the G80 features a ‘next-generation Genesis rear-seat entertainment system’ where passengers can enjoy global OTT services like Netflix and YouTube on a 14.6-inch screen in the rear, as well as a Bang & Olufsen high-resolution sound system that provides intricate and rich sound quality.

Specs that promote safety and convenience while driving and parking include the built-in camera 2 that supports high-definition recording and voice recording while improving recording time, as well as features like direct detection (HOD, Hands on Detection) steering wheel, driver attention warning camera, remote smart parking assistant 2 (RSPA 2), and front/side/rear parking collision avoidance assist (PCA-F/S/R). These are newly implemented to ensure customers can drive in safety and comfort at all times.

Genesis offers the G80 with two engine lineups: 2.5 Turbo Gasoline and 3.5 Turbo Gasoline.

The 2.5 Turbo Gasoline offers a maximum output of 304 horsepower, a maximum torque of 43.0kgㆍm, and a combined fuel efficiency of 10.6km/ℓ (Note: based on 2WD, 18-inch wheels, without built-in camera), while the 3.5 Turbo Gasoline achieves a maximum output of 380 horsepower, a maximum torque of 54.0kgㆍm, and a combined fuel efficiency of 9.0km/ℓ (Note: based on 2WD, 19-inch wheels).

Genesis has improved the G80’s driving vibrations and reduced the inflow of indoor noise to secure the highest levels of ride comfort and quietness.

By optimizing the shape of suspension bushings and utilizing frequencies transmitted differently to tires according to driving speed and road conditions, a ‘frequency-responsive shock absorber’ has been newly applied as standard suspension equipment to enhance overall ride comfort. (Note: When choosing the gasoline 2.5 Turbo with 20-inch wheels or gasoline 3.5 Turbo, preview electronic control suspension is applied.)

Additionally, sound-absorbing tires (19-inch/20-inch) have been utilized, and sealing structures have been optimized to strengthen noise absorption features and minimize indoor noise and wind noise.

Genesis also offers a ‘G80 Sports Package’ that maximizes sportiness through dedicated specifications to enhance both interior and exterior elements and driving performance. (Note: Dedicated specifications are limited to the gasoline 3.5 Turbo)

The front of the G80 Sports Package features a ‘Double Layered G-Matrix’ patterned radiator grille and an extended air intake grille that emphasize its sporty image, while the rear features a prominent new bumper and diffuser design, along with a dark garnish wrapping the lower bumper to highlight the dynamics of the sports sedan.

Inside, a D-cut steering wheel dedicated to the G80 Sports Package is applied, and when selecting the ‘Sports Design Selection’, two carbon garnishes (red/silver) can be added for enhanced luxury.

Genesis has extensively applied dedicated specifications to the G80 Sports Package gasoline 3.5 Turbo model, including ▲ Electronic Differential Lock (E-LSD) ▲ Active Rear Steering System (RWS) ▲ Michelin Summer Tires ▲ Sports+ Mode to maximize the joy of driving.

The newly applied electronic differential lock controls the drive force of the left and right wheels using an electronically controlled clutch, providing dynamic and stable driving sensations during high-speed cornering and winding.

The active rear steering system reduces the vehicle’s turning radius while enhancing stability during high-speed driving.

Michelin summer tires not only improve braking performance but also enhance handling and acceleration, while the Sports+ mode augments driving pleasure with powertrain tuning optimized for track driving and virtual sound.

The pricing for the G80 starts at 58.9 million won for the 2.5 gasoline turbo model and 65.5 million won for the 3.5 gasoline turbo model, while the G80 Sports Package is priced at ▲ 6.29 million won for the 2.5 gasoline turbo and ▲ 71.1 million won for the 3.5 gasoline turbo.

A Genesis representative stated, “The G80, which has consistently driven the growth of the Genesis brand, has been outfitted with a new design and enhanced product quality after three years,” and added, “Through this product enhancement, we aim to solidify our positions in the luxury sedan market.”

Meanwhile, Genesis will operate ‘recommended vehicles’ to increase convenience in vehicle selection during the purchase process, offering 7 types.

These recommended vehicles feature a carefully curated specification combination chosen by Genesis based on customer preferences, allowing customers to easily obtain quotes by selecting their desired exterior/interior colors and garnishes.

Genesis will hold a special exhibition to showcase the revised G80 from January 13th (Saturday) to January 21st (Sunday) at the multi-cultural space ‘Respacio Etna’ located in Gangnam, Seoul.

<THE GENESIS STAGE. G80> will feature a special exhibition of the G80 set against the TWO-LINES concept stage, as well as docent tours and lifestyle classes, allowing participating customers to experience Genesis’s unique hospitality.
