Tmoney is strengthening the issuance of electronic receipts in Seoul taxis, expanding its ESG management efforts.
To practice ESG management aimed at conserving resources and protecting the environment, Tmoney is introducing electronic receipts to 11,000 taxis in Seoul. Tmoney has also prepared various events to promote the activation of electronic receipts. Through these initiatives, Tmoney aims to revitalize the struggling taxi industry during the year-end and also take the lead in environmental protection.
The ‘Tmoney Seoul Taxi Electronic Receipt Pilot Introduction’ is expected to have a significant impact on environmental protection. According to the Ministry of Environment, the annual cost of issuing paper receipts reaches approximately 11.9 billion won, and the waste generated amounts to 1,079 tons. By reducing such paper receipts, it is possible to decrease greenhouse gas emissions by 2,641 tons, which is equivalent to planting 943,119 pine trees. Consequently, there are high expectations for the environmental protection effects resulting from the Tmoney Seoul Taxi electronic receipt pilot introduction.
Tmoney is conducting events for both passengers and taxi drivers to invigorate the taxi industry during the year-end and promote electronic receipts. From December 26 to January 12 of the following year, an ‘Electronic Receipt Certification Event’ has been prepared.
Passengers can request an electronic receipt upon exiting the taxi, and then upload the issued electronic receipt via their mobile phone at the event URL (https://forms.gle/hEvD1KVrW5vadW8L8) (personal information will be collected). Prizes include 300,000 won in Shinsegae gift certificates for first place, 200,000 won for second place, and 100,000 won for third place (based on cumulative participation). Additionally, taxi drivers can propose this event to passengers (as part of the promotional effort for electronic receipts). They have a chance to win fuel vouchers of 500,000 won for first place, 400,000 won for second place, and 300,000 won for third place (also based on cumulative participation). Moreover, all participants (passengers and drivers) will receive a Starbucks coffee coupon.
According to Cho Dong-wook, Executive Director of Tmoney’s Mobility division, “We have started the introduction of electronic receipts in line with our ESG management slogan, ‘Making Mobility Convenient, Enhancing the World.’ We expect Tmoney’s Seoul Taxi electronic receipts to communicate with customers who practice eco-friendly activities in their daily lives and to play a significant role in resource conservation and environmental protection by replacing paper receipts.”
Meanwhile, Tmoney prioritizes public interest as its foremost value and fulfills its social responsibility. Based on the established trust with transportation industry workers, including public transport, highways/intercity buses, and taxis, Tmoney continues to practice ESG management aimed at ‘making mobility convenient, enhancing the world.’
