Volvo Extends XC60 Warranty to Unprecedented 7 Years and 140,000 km!

Volvo XC60

Volvo Korea has expanded the warranty period for the XC60 to an unprecedented 7 years and 140,000 km. This is a remarkable benefit, adding 2 years and 40,000 km to the existing warranty period of 5 years or 100,000 km. Although the vehicle is manufactured in China, this extended warranty is intended to enhance consumer trust in the XC60.

The XC60 is a highly popular model that has made consumers wait nearly 2 years for delivery. By importing models produced in China, the waiting list has rapidly decreased, and the backlog has been completely resolved.

While the backlog has been fully addressed, sales continue to rise. Before the introduction of the Chinese models, the average monthly sales for the XC60 was 395 units until the end of August, but the average for September and October surged to 678 units.

This translates to a staggering 71.6% increase in average monthly sales. Contrary to concerns about consumers shying away from Chinese products, the ability to receive vehicles without a waiting period has been a significant factor in boosting sales.

Nevertheless, Volvo’s decision to extend the warranty period is a strategic move to reassure consumers about the reliability of the Chinese-made model over 7 years, attempting to quell any anxieties regarding its production source.

Volvo Korea emphasizes that “the production quality is the same whether it is made in China or Sweden.” A representative stated that “the state-of-the-art production lines among Volvo’s manufacturing sites are located in China,” noting that both the assembly quality and finish of models produced in China, like the S90, are significantly superior compared to models from other production bases.
