Mercedes-Benz Korea has officially launched the ‘New GLE 400 e 4MATIC Coupe’ in the domestic market.
The New GLE 400 e 4MATIC Coupe is a luxury plug-in hybrid SUV coupe that incorporates Mercedes-Benz’s 4th generation plug-in hybrid technology into the highly popular 4th generation facelift of the New GLE Coupe, which was released in Korea last August. Based on a 4-cylinder gasoline engine, it features a new electric motor with peak output of 100 kW and an improved hybrid drive program, boasting an electric range of up to 67 km and outstanding driving performance and efficiency according to domestic certification standards.
With the launch of the New GLE 400 e 4MATIC Coupe, Mercedes-Benz Korea now offers a diverse lineup of 6 models, including the New GLE SUV, SUV Coupe, high-performance models, and plug-in hybrids, providing customers with a wide variety of options.

The New GLE 400 e 4MATIC Coupe boasts outstanding driving efficiency and performance thanks to Mercedes-Benz’s 4th generation plug-in hybrid technology.
The hybrid drive system of the New GLE 400 e 4MATIC Coupe combines a gasoline engine (M254) that produces a maximum output of 252 horsepower and 40.8 kg·m with a new electric motor that generates 100 kW and a maximum torque of 440 Nm (44.9 kg·m). This new electric motor enhances the vehicle’s agility and dynamic movement at startup. Additionally, the hybrid drive system is paired with a 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission, delivering high-density output. As a result, the New GLE 400 e 4MATIC Coupe shows improved driving performance with an output increase of 41 horsepower compared to the previous model.
Furthermore, with a generous battery capacity of 31.2 kWh, the vehicle can offer an electric range of up to 67 km on a single charge, providing a hassle-free electric driving experience for everyday life.
The improved hybrid drive program installed in the New GLE 400 e 4MATIC Coupe suggests electric driving modes suitable for the driving route. When the driver starts the vehicle, the ‘Electric (ELECTRIC)’ mode is set as the default, where the vehicle will operate solely on the stored electric charge, allowing for speeds up to 140 km/h.
When the driver presses the accelerator pedal and demands more power than the electric motor can deliver, the gasoline engine will take over. The ‘Battery Hold (BATTERY HOLD)’ mode limits the use of electric mode and operates solely on the gasoline engine to maintain the battery charge at a certain level. In ‘Hybrid (HYBRID)’ mode, the interaction between the electric motor and gasoline engine is intelligently adjusted based on the driving route. Additionally, the latest version of off-road driving mode can also be experienced in electric mode. In electric mode, the paddle shifters on the steering wheel allow drivers to select various energy recovery stages, while ‘D Auto’ mode automatically adjusts energy recovery to optimal levels.
The design of the New GLE 400 e 4MATIC Coupe embodies both the dynamism of an SUV and coupe aesthetics. Both interior and exterior features the AMG line as standard, showcasing a sporty and elegant ambience.
Firstly, the exterior of the New GLE 400 e 4MATIC Coupe incorporates AMG line design elements such as a diamond grille with Mercedes-Benz pattern, a cleanly finished AMG front apron with chrome trim, and an AMG rear apron in diffuser shape with black inserts. It also features Multi-Beam LED headlamps with 4 lights as accents and rear lamps with two bar-shaped light signatures, contributing to its robust and sporty image.
The interior now boasts the latest multifunctional sporty steering wheel that is applied to the entire New GLE lineup, enhancing vehicle operation functionality and visual sporty appeal. Furthermore, the central and side air vents have been newly finished in chrome, inheriting design elements from the Mercedes-Maybach GLS, creating a more luxurious atmosphere. The combination of Nappa leather color scheme and ambient lighting seen in the S-Class further elevates the elegance.
The New GLE 400 e 4MATIC Coupe, like other models in the New GLE lineup, comes equipped with the latest safety and driving assistance systems, along with interior convenience features to provide a safer and more comfortable driving environment.
The latest version of the Driving Assistance Package Plus, which supports maintaining distance from the vehicle ahead, automatic speed control, braking and starting, lane detection, and stationary vehicle detection at speeds up to 100 km/h, is standard in the new model. The parking package includes features like a transparent hood and 360-degree cameras, while the AirMATIC package intelligently adjusts the suspension according to road conditions, vehicle speed, and load.
Moreover, the vehicle comes with energizing packages and air balance packages to provide a comfortable driving environment, along with a second-generation MBUX infotainment system, a surround sound system with 13 speakers, 590W output, and sound personalization features for an elevated audio experience. It also supports Dolby Atmos® sound for a high-level audio environment, enhancing the digital experience.
Additionally, features such as ▲ MBUX augmented reality navigation, ▲ head-up display, ▲ wireless charging, winter package including a heated steering wheel and heated windshield washer system, panoramic sunroof, temperature-controlled cup holders, heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, and a running board system assisting in safe entry and exit are included as standard.
Meanwhile, Mercedes-Benz Korea supports a free warranty of up to 8 years/160,000 km (whichever comes first) for the high-voltage lithium-ion battery equipped in the New GLE 400 e 4MATIC Coupe, allowing plug-in hybrid customers to operate their vehicles more conveniently.
The price of the New GLE 400 e 4MATIC Coupe is 132 million won.
