Volvo XC60 Dominates the Korean Luxury SUV Market with Impressive Sales Surge

Volvo Car Korea has ranked third in the sales tally of imported cars in September, recording 1,555 units sold thanks to the XC60’s momentum.

Despite a slight dip in total imports, which amounted to 22,565 units, Volvo’s September sales grew by 44% compared to the previous month and by 77% year-over-year, demonstrating a trend of strong demand.

In individual model sales, the globally bestselling XC60 exhibited a staggering increase of 248% over the previous month, achieving a record monthly sales of 899 units since its domestic launch. Following it, the S60 (193 units), S90 (158 units), and XC90 (123 units) were also significant contributors. The XC60 claimed the second spot for best-sellers in September.

Iman-sik Lee, Senior Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Volvo Car Korea, stated, “Despite the challenging circumstances that the industry is currently facing, we have achieved a remarkable growth of approximately 33% this year, driven by the trust of individual customers in their 30s and 40s. Moving forward, we will continue to support this growth by expanding volume and enhancing our service network alongside the launch of the 2024 models.”

Meanwhile, the XC60 shows a dominant presence in South Korea’s fiercely competitive mid-size premium SUV market, being Volvo’s global best-seller. Its dynamic design, human-centric interior philosophy, advanced safety technologies, and eco-friendly powertrains contributed to its selection as the 2018 World Car of the Year.

The XC60 is currently offered with five trims, featuring three powertrain combinations based on low-emission gasoline engine technology: mild hybrids (B5/B6) and plug-in hybrids (T8).

Each trim comes standard with industry-leading connectivity services powered by ICT, such as ‘TMAP (TMAP) Infotainment Service 2.0’, and an advanced safety system aimed at achieving zero serious injuries from traffic accidents. Additionally, the XC60 provides an evolving smart car experience with 15 years of complimentary wireless updates (OTA).
