Volvo EX30: The Game-Changing SUV That Just Won ‘Car of the Year’

The upcoming Volvo EX30, the next-generation premium electric SUV from Volvo Cars, is set to make its domestic debut in November and has been honored as ‘Car of the Year’ by the British daily newspaper ‘The Sun.’

The Volvo EX30 is the brand’s first compact electric SUV, developed to respond to the evolving global electric vehicle trends and attract new customer demand. It is designed based on Scandinavian design and cutting-edge technology to ensure that despite its small size, it can maintain safety and brand experience levels matching higher models. Furthermore, it achieves the lowest carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions in its history by carefully selecting all materials and limiting carbon emissions throughout its entire production and product life cycle.

Notably, it has been recognized as a benchmark in its class, boasting a new pure electric powertrain, advanced technology, superior quality and safety, and a competitive pricing strategy, which contributed to its selection as ‘Car of the Year’ by The Sun.

Rob Gill, the Motors Editor at The Sun, stated, “EX30 not only claimed the crown of this year’s compact SUV/crossover, but it stands out as the unique ‘Sun Car’. It offers everything we expect from Volvo today—safety and cool Scandinavian style, along with sustainability—all at a price we could never have anticipated. It is sure to be a phenomenal hit.”

Additionally, the EX30 has proven its excellence by also being named ‘Compact SUV/Crossover of the Year’ at the ‘News UK Motor Awards’ selected by major UK automotive media, including The Sunday Times.

Christian Elverdam, Managing Director of Volvo Cars UK, expressed, “This award reinforces our belief that presenting models that cater to various lifestyles and needs, especially within appropriate budgets, will help change public perception of pure electric vehicles. The success of the EX30 will play a key role in our brand’s growth and will elevate our leadership in the electric vehicle sector.”

Meanwhile, the Volvo EX30 is set for its domestic reveal and pre-order in November, with specific specifications and pricing to be disclosed later.
