Mercedes-Benz Korea announced that the Korean team, consisting of three representatives, made history by winning the ‘Mercedes Trophy World Final 2023’, a global premium amateur golf tournament held in Donaueschingen, Germany from October 3 to 7. This victory marked the first time in the history of the Korean team at the Mercedes Trophy, achieving overall win along with victories in individual categories, setting a record for the highest performance since participating in the event.
The three representatives selected to represent Korea demonstrated exceptional performance at the national finals ‘Mercedes Trophy 2023 National Final’ held in August, ultimately being chosen as customers of Mercedes-Benz Korea. They competed against 75 amateur golfers representing various countries at the global finals ‘Mercedes Trophy World Final’ held in the first week of October in Germany.
As a result, the Korean team scored a total of 171 points in the ‘Nation Cup’, surpassing teams from Austria and China to take first place, marking a first-ever overall victory since participating in the Mercedes Trophy. Furthermore, the three representatives achieved remarkable personal glory by securing 1st and 3rd place in C Group Singles Net and 2nd place in Singles Gross, earning personal awards as well.
Matthias Weitl, the CEO of Mercedes-Benz Korea, expressed congratulations and joy to the Korean representative customers, stating, “With outstanding capabilities and the best teamwork, they achieved the first Nation Cup victory in the history of Mercedes-Benz Korea while also earning impressive results in the individual championship. This year’s World Final, which highlights the Mercedes Trophy, took place at the five-star luxury golf resort ‘Der Öschberghof’ in partnership with Mercedes-Benz, providing customers with special memories. Participants were offered golf rounds and tours of the Sindelfingen factory, and companions enjoyed various programs including golf lessons and spa services.
The Mercedes Trophy, now in its 32nd year, is a premium amateur golf tournament for Mercedes-Benz customers, offering opportunities for luxurious brand experiences and serving as a platform for interaction among Mercedes-Benz customers worldwide. Every year, over 600 qualifying tournaments are held in approximately 60 countries through local dealers, with about 60,000 amateur golfers participating. In this year’s domestic qualifiers for ‘Mercedes Trophy 2023’, over 1,400 domestic Mercedes-Benz customers participated, with three representatives ultimately selected to advance to the World Final and achieve victory.
