Introducing the MAN OptiView: A Game-Changer in Truck Safety and Efficiency

MAN Truck & Bus Korea has announced the introduction of its electronic side mirror system, the ‘MAN OptiView,’ to the South Korean market.

The MAN OptiView features five cameras and two displays that relay important information, effectively eliminating truck blind spots and providing clear, wide-angle visibility even in poor weather or nighttime driving conditions. This innovative technology helps to improve fuel efficiency with its streamlined design and lightweight construction.

First unveiled at the world’s largest commercial vehicle trade fair, ‘IAA Transportation 2022,’ the MAN OptiView has been well-received by European drivers and has contributed to the strong sales of the New MAN TG series. The technology also earned recognition, winning the 2022 European Transport Sustainability Award.

Thanks to this growing popularity, the MAN OptiView is set to be introduced in South Korea starting mid-October, with sales of the New MAN TGX tractor equipped with the MAN OptiView beginning initially.

The New MAN TG series, equipped with the MAN OptiView, replaces traditional mirror arms with two cameras mounted above each side door, while a front camera on the A-pillar provides a clear view ahead of the truck.

The images captured by the cameras and real-time traffic information are transmitted in HD quality to the existing 12.3-inch display of the MAN media system, as well as to two additional displays installed in the driver and passenger seats—available in sizes of 12 and 15 inches.

The displays offer three camera view styles according to the driving situation: a standard view similar to traditional mirrors, a zoom view for quickly spotting distant objects, and a wide-angle view that minimizes blind spots around the truck. This system adapts automatically based on driving conditions.

The introduction of the MAN OptiView is expected to significantly enhance the product capabilities of the New MAN TG series currently on sale, providing greater satisfaction for South Korean customers.

Thomas Hemmerich, President of MAN Truck & Bus Korea, expressed, “We are delighted to present our innovative technology, MAN OptiView, to our customers in South Korea. This new technology will enhance the value of the New MAN TG Series, which has been beloved by both domestic and international clients, as we continue to prioritize customer comfort and safety.”
