Revamped and Ready: The 11th Generation Honda Accord Unveiled

On the 17th, Honda Korea officially launched the 11th generation ‘All-New Accord’. The ‘Accord’ is Honda’s flagship sedan, considered the best-selling model in the North American market with about 50 years of heritage. It has long been loved in Korea for its excellent technology and product appeal, and this generational update has evolved in every aspect, including design, performance, safety, and convenience features.

The All-New Accord is available in two models: hybrid and gasoline, and can be purchased through Honda’s online platform. The prices are set at 53.4 million won (including VAT) for the All-New Accord Hybrid Touring and 43.9 million won (including VAT) for the All-New Accord Turbo. Five exterior colors are offered, including White, Gray, Black, and hybrid-exclusive shades of Urban Gray and Blue.

The All-New Accord shows an overwhelming presence with a longer body and a fastback style compared to the previous model. The front face features blackout full LED headlights and a mesh design front grille that provides a sharp and powerful impression, while the rear completes the elegant design with horizontal full LED taillights. The sleek coupe-like silhouette is accentuated by the long-nose robust front that leads to a tapered roofline.

The interior is designed with a layout that enhances usability through intuitive and straightforward controls. The details, such as colors, materials, and special stitching, emphasize sophistication and luxury in the cabin atmosphere. Additionally, a 10.2-inch TFT digital instrument cluster and a significantly expanded 12.3-inch new center display audio offer enhanced user convenience for the driver.

The hybrid powertrain features a 4th generation 2-motor hybrid system that enhances dynamic performance. The newly developed 2.0L direct-injection Atkinson engine combined with an e-CVT offers excellent environmental performance and a refined driving experience, with improved acceleration performance for a sportier driving experience. The engine outputs a maximum of 147 horsepower and a torque of 18.4 kg∙m, while the motor achieves a maximum output of 184 horsepower and a torque of 34 kg∙m, upgrading the performance from the previous model. Moreover, a ‘charge mode’ has been added, allowing battery charging during driving and increasing the EV driving range, as well as enhancing the driving force to enable EV operation at speeds under 50 km/h.

The All-New Accord Hybrid introduces a motion management system, a first for Honda, which aids the driver in controlling the vehicle. It optimally manages the powertrain and brakes according to steering wheel inputs to control deceleration effectively during cornering. It generates deceleration to control pitch motion, enhancing tire grip during adverse conditions like snow or rain, while also providing immediate steering response in tight cornering situations for exceptional handling performance.

The gasoline model, the All-New Accord Turbo, features an upgraded 1.5L direct-injection VTEC turbo engine and a continuously variable transmission (CVT), delivering performance with maximum output of 190 horsepower and torque of 26.5 kg∙m. The CVT preserves the advantages of the previous model while incorporating noise reduction technology for the drive belt.

The All-New Accord Hybrid has received low-emission vehicle classifications, while the Turbo model has been classified as a low-emission vehicle Type 3, allowing benefits such as discounts in public and airport parking facilities.

The All-New Accord comes standard equipped with Honda Sensing, an advanced driver-assistance system featuring a wide-angle camera with a 90-degree field of view and a radar with a 120-degree recognition range. The performance of the adaptive cruise control (ACC) and lane-keeping assistance system (LKAS) has been improved. Additionally, a new Traffic Jam Assist (TJA) system, which detects lanes using a camera and operates from a standstill, has been included for managing city traffic congestion. Other features include Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), Road Departure Mitigation System (RDM), Auto High-Beam (AHB), and Blind Spot Information (BSI) system.

The ACE™ (Advanced Compatibility Engineering) body structure, along with advanced 10-airbag systems including rear side airbags and front knee airbags, ensures crash safety in various situations, achieving the top safety pick (TSP+) rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).

Various user-centric convenience features are included as standard. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support wired and wireless connections, while the hybrid model offers front/rear heated seats, front ventilated seats, heated steering wheel, head-up display, and BOSE premium audio system—all of which are popular among Korean consumers.

Hyun-Jeong Lee, CEO of Honda Korea, stated, “The 11th generation All-New Accord maintains the core of Honda’s heritage and embodies a new benchmark in all aspects, including design, performance, and safety.” He added, “We hope that more customers will be able to experience the class and charm of the All-New Accord firsthand.”
