Introducing the Revamped Kia K5: A Fusion of Innovation and Style

The design leader Kia K5 has evolved once again.

Kia is starting pre-orders for the ‘New Kia K5’.

The K5 has been recognized for its design and innovation since its first generation, making it a representative mid-size sedan from Kia.

Starting today, the K5 is available for pre-orders as an enhanced model of the third-generation K5 launched in 2019, boasting a futuristic and dynamic design with various advanced features that enhance its appeal.

The design of the K5 reflects Kia’s ‘Opposites United’ philosophy, showcasing a more dynamic exterior and refined interior design.

Alongside this, Kia has equipped the K5 with features like wireless (OTA, Over the Air) software updates and music/video streaming services, providing customers with an SDV (Software Defined Vehicle) based advanced software experience.

Moreover, popular convenience features such as ▲Kia Digital Key 2 ▲Built-in Cam 2 ▲Electric Safety Power Trunk have been fully included.

The pricing starts from ▲2.0 gasoline at 27,840,000 KRW, ▲1.6 gasoline turbo at 28,680,000 KRW, ▲2.0 gasoline hybrid at 33,260,000 KRW, and ▲2.0 LPi at 28,530,000 KRW. (※ Prices for hybrid models are before environmentally friendly vehicle tax benefits)

The exterior of the K5 has evolved more intensely, reflecting the Opposites United design philosophy.

The front end features daytime running lights reinterpreted as a ‘Star Map Signature Lighting’, creating a strong and futuristic impression, complemented by a wing-shaped bumper design for a robust feel.

The side profile incorporates new multi-spoke wheels, and the rear features a Star Map Lighting styled rear combination lamp that emphasizes the overall width and three-dimensional effect.

The interior of the K5 showcases a horizontally-oriented design with advanced technology, such as a panoramic curved display and infotainment/climate control interface, creating a sophisticated and open-space ambiance.

The seamlessly connected 12.3-inch cluster and infotainment system within the panoramic curved display generates a driver-focused, future-oriented atmosphere, enhancing the unified delivery of information through the next-generation infotainment system, ‘ccNC’.

Kia has optimized the button layout of the infotainment/climate control interface to streamline the crash pad and has integrated a wireless smartphone charging system in the front tray for increased usability.

Customers can choose from seven exterior color options, including two new colors, ‘Wolf Gray’ and ‘Moon Scape Matte Gray’, and three new interior color choices of ‘Sand’, ‘Martian Brown’, and Black. (※ Color availability may vary by powertrain)

Kia also offers a ‘Black Fit’ option that adds design elements with differentiated colors for a more personalized touch.

The Black Fit includes exclusive black-themed design elements, such as ▲Black suede headlining interior ▲Rear dark skid plate/muffler ▲Dedicated 18/19-inch wheels ▲Black outside mirrors, creating a powerful appearance.

Kia has enhanced the driving dynamics of the K5 to provide a comfortable and luxurious driving experience.

By optimizing the characteristics and materials of the front and rear suspension, Kia maintains agile driving performance while effectively absorbing road vibrations and shocks for enhanced ride comfort.

Moreover, reinforcing the materials where the body meets the front windshield and optimizing the shock-absorbing components of the rear and front members reduces road noise transmitted from the surface to the vehicle. Additionally, the application of dual-layer soundproof glass has been expanded from the front windshield and front seats to the rear seats, enhancing quietness.

Kia aims to deliver an advanced software experience based on SDV through various connectivity features in the K5.

Kia has equipped the K5 with wireless software updates to keep important electronic control functions up to date, alongside the ‘Streaming Plus’ feature, enabling enjoyment of video and high-quality audio content via the infotainment system.

Additionally, the Krell Premium Sound System (12 speakers) provides a more immersive content experience with 5.1 channel sound.

Furthermore, Kia has integrated advanced features like the Kia Digital Key 2, which supports personalization settings for users, allowing entry and ignition without a smart key if they approach the vehicle with a smartphone or watch. It also includes a built-in cam capable of storing QHD video and audio, ePass, and fingerprint authentication system.

Features such as the electric safety power trunk, vibration warning steering wheel, air conditioning after blow, rear folding seat (60:40), side parking distance warning, and rear parking collision avoidance assist have been included to enhance convenience for this mid-sized sedan.

Kia plans to launch the K5 2.0 gasoline, 1.6 gasoline turbo, and 2.0 LPi models next month, with the hybrid model’s pricing to be revealed once it is certified and eligible for environmentally friendly vehicle tax benefits.

The prices by trim for the K5 are as follows: ▲2.0 gasoline Prestige 27,840,000 KRW, Noblesse 31,350,000 KRW, Signature 34,470,000 KRW ▲1.6 gasoline turbo Prestige 28,680,000 KRW, Noblesse 32,590,000 KRW, Signature 35,260,000 KRW ▲2.0 gasoline hybrid Prestige 33,260,000 KRW, Noblesse 36,620,000 KRW, Signature 39,540,000 KRW ▲2.0 LPi Prestige 28,530,000 KRW, Noblesse 32,140,000 KRW, Signature 34,620,000 KRW. Kia is rolling out various marketing activities alongside the pre-orders for the K5.

Customers who pre-order the K5 and participate through the Kia website will have a chance to win access to a self-studio where they can express their individuality as K5 owners.

Additionally, from November 2nd (Thursday) to November 5th (Sunday), Kia will hold a pop-up exhibition at Nudite Seoul Forest (located in Seongdong-gu, Seoul) for general customers, showcasing installation art linked to the K5 brand’s innovation.

A Kia representative stated, “The K5, which has caused the biggest resonance in the history of domestic automobiles, has rewritten the history of sedans with its innovative design and value. We anticipate that the K5, as an icon of innovation and progress, will attract substantial interest from customers in their 20s and 30s, meeting the expectations of those who enjoy the ‘style’ of sedans and the ‘taste’ of driving.”
