Revolutionizing Urban Mobility: TMAP Launches Shared Electric Bike Service

On the 31st, TMAP announced the launch of its shared electric bike service, ‘TMAP Bike.’

Electric bikes are considered one of the relatively safer personal mobility devices (PMDs). They can be universally utilized, making them an ideal alternative for meeting almost all last-mile demands, even for longer pedestrian distances.

The TMAP Bike features a high-output motor suitable for the hilly terrain of the country and a double kickstand function that enables stable parking on slopes. It will initially be launched in six areas in Gangnam District, Seoul, including Nonhyeon-dong, Samsung-dong, and Yeoksam-dong, with plans to expand to major areas of Seoul like Seocho-gu, Gwanak-gu, Dongjak-gu, and Gangdong-gu, as well as southern regions like Hanam and Anyang in Gyeonggi Province next month. The usage fees will be set at a level comparable to or lower than those of similar services in the industry.

TMAP Mobility explained, “In the future, TMAP users will be able to use a single application (app) for navigation, public transport route search, airport bus reservations, as well as access a variety of personal mobility devices like kick scooters and bicycles in an integrated way.”

TMAP Bike is a service jointly launched with PM operator PMP, known for its operational management capability and competitive data through its ‘SINGSING’ service. The two companies plan to continue their collaboration through joint efforts in device placement, management, and promotional activities.

This service will be available on both the TMAP and SINGSING apps. To celebrate the service launch, TMAP is offering all users the benefit of three free basic fare rides.

Kim Sang-hoon, CEO of PMP (SINGSING), stated, “I want to emphasize the significance of this strategic collaboration between the comprehensive mobility platform TMAP and the micro-mobility specialist PMP in entering the market, and we will continue to maximize the strengths of both companies to provide convenient and enjoyable mobility services to many customers.”

Jeong Jae-wook, Portfolio Innovation Leader at TMAP Mobility, highlighted that “shared electric bicycles are gaining attention as a means to alleviate congested urban traffic and reduce environmental pollution, combining the sharing economy and eco-friendly mobility,” adding, “We will continue to develop an integrated mobility app that encompasses various services, including public transport and airport buses, while also penetrating into every corner of neighborhoods with personal mobility devices.”
