Kia Launches Tailored Safety Training Program for Electric Taxi Customers

Kia Motors is operating a customized safety education program called ‘Good Driving EV Taxi’ for customers of electric taxi vehicles.

‘Good Driving EV Taxi’ was introduced for the first time to assist taxi drivers in accurately understanding the electric vehicle systems and ensuring safe and efficient driving, especially as the proportion of electric vehicles in the domestic taxi industry is expanding rapidly.

The program will be conducted across 15 sessions from September 19 (Tuesday) to October 25 (Wednesday) for over 560 taxi drivers nationwide, at local taxi driver associations and Kia service centers.

The 1 hour and 30 minutes training is structured to include an understanding of electric vehicle driving systems, an introduction to differences and advantages of electric vehicles, insights on regenerative braking systems for improving fuel efficiency, and a Q&A session with experts.

Kia plans to provide hands-on experience by supporting the training sessions with electric taxi models developed as Purpose Built Vehicles (PBV), specifically the ‘Niro Plus’ and ‘EV6’, allowing drivers to experience the systems and performance of electric vehicles that are different from traditional internal combustion engine vehicles.

A Kia representative stated, “As the trend of electric taxis continues to rise, we plan to continuously offer customized training opportunities. We hope that this program will enable all taxi driver customers to ride safely and efficiently in electric vehicles.”
