Mercedes-Benz and Partners Join Forces for Children’s Traffic Safety Campaign

On the 18th, the Mercedes-Benz Social Contribution Committee signed a ‘Traffic Safety Promotion MOU for Children’ at Seoul’s Kyungdong Elementary School in Seongdong-gu, together with 12 institutions and organizations including the Ministry of Education, the Korea Road Traffic Authority, and the Korea Traffic Safety Authority, as well as other private and civic groups.

The partnership was organized under the auspices of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and aims to raise awareness about children’s traffic safety by involving companies, institutions, and organizations dedicated to promoting traffic safety, thereby fostering social consensus and establishing a child-centered traffic safety culture.

Participating institutions, including the Mercedes-Benz Social Contribution Committee, agreed to collaborate until 2025 on promotional activities and the expansion of traffic safety education for children.

The signing ceremony was attended by 13 representatives, including Deputy Minister Na Joo-beom from the Ministry of Education, Chairman Lee Joo-min from the Korea Road Traffic Authority, Chairman Kwon Yong-bok from the Korea Traffic Safety Authority, and Commissioner Lee Sang-kook from the Mercedes-Benz Social Contribution Committee.

Since 2014, the Mercedes-Benz Social Contribution Committee has been expanding the ‘Mercedes-Benz Mobile Kids’ traffic safety education program, having trained a total of 1,749 institutions and 40,717 children to date.

Additionally, since 2017, they have conducted traffic safety campaigns through the ‘Play the Safety Art Contest’ and, from last year, have been supporting traffic safety guidance activities in 330 elementary school zones in Seoul in cooperation with the Green Mothers Association.

Lee Sang-kook, Vice President of Sales at Mercedes-Benz Korea and a member of the Mercedes-Benz Social Contribution Committee, stated, “The Mercedes-Benz Social Contribution Committee has been conducting traffic safety education to empower children to practice safety rules and proactively prevent accidents. Through this agreement, we will continue to work closely with participating organizations to ensure that future generations of children can grow up safer and healthier, and we will do our utmost to create accident-free safe commutes.”
